Has anyone successfully replaced their stereo head unit with an aftermarket one?
If you have, could you please post in with information on what brand and type of interfaces you used to do this.
Since the electronics have been changed in 2005 owners of older models need not reply.
Thank you.

I replaced the factory 6 disk in dash with a kenwood 7015 with nav. You need the 2005 interface or you'll loose the bose and onstar. If you change out your head unit make sure you specify that you have an 05 when buying parts!!

What brand/type of interface did you use?
I replaced my speakers with Focal's and upgraded/added amplifiers. I am currently using a Soundgate interface for my OnStar and it is still inoperable.

I know that soundgate makes the new module. I can't remember the exact model # but I know that for the 05's you need the one that ends in x. Now your bose and onstar will work. That should be enough info.. but I'll try to find out the exact model #.

Keep the stock OEM unit and add AudioControls LC6 unit and maybe even the EQX. Both units will hook up after the Bose amp. This way you have all the stock functions of the steering wheel/onstar/ head unit.

If you want to wait until May, the JL Audio Clean Sweep will be out, this will be the best solution for all OEM intergration with after market amps, speakers etc.

Either way with the LC6 & EQX or the Cleansweep roughly $400

i made a few e-mails and calls and found out that Soundgate is shipping their interfaces that should work with 2005 GM vehicles.

Will the soundgate let you use the steering wheel controls? I'm about to buy a 05 H2 SUV and I'm not sure if I want to go with the factory Nav set up. I have found the Kenwood reciever mentioned above with the navigation pack for $1,800 (new) online. I would love to get this and hook up the rear camera to it. Only if I can keep my buttons though.
Thanks in advance, Mike

yes the soundgate module will allow for the factory stearing contols to still work properly. Mine works perfect!
