Ok I have about 11500 on my truck and the rear dif light along with service 4wd light came on. I took it in and they replaced the electric coil (high resistance) in the locker along with the carrier bearings (worn due to excess heat from coil).

Got it back and 10 miles off the lot the service 4wd light came on along with a blinking rear dif light.

I took it back and they replaced the wiring that goes from my locker button to the rear dif. I got my truck back and 10 miles off the lot the service 4wd light came on with a blinking rear dif button.

They tell me that this has been a common problem(1 out of 5 08 advs) but never to this extent. Any techs have any suggestions?

If this happens to 1 out fo 5 (which I find very hard to believe) that should have had this fixed the first time.

This is the first I have heard of this isue with the ALpha.

I had a problem with an 06 I-5 H3. The black potting material is normal but the coil can be fried. I don't think it has anything to do with it being an Alpha with a 5.3 liter V8. Somehow I think before the coils got hot enough to destroy bearings they would have blown a fuse.
Come on Timco, let it out tell us how you really feel:clapping:

No. The problem supposedly isn't with the alphas; it's on all 08 adventures I5 or V8.

It turns out that the last warning light was because there was a small nick in the wire that went from the fuse box to the rear locker module. It was due to over clamping the metal clip that help it in place.

It's fixed now, so I'm happy. I just wanted to let you guys know in case it happens to you.
