I finally took her off-road and all I can say is that this truck is unstoppable. The first half of the trail I covered by foot first to see if there was enough room to fit. I barely made it through on foot and didn't bother going any more because I didn't think the H3 would make it. So I head back to the truck, put it in Low range with the diff on, start to go up the trail expecting the worst and to my surprise the truck went up it with no problem. I must say that Hummer did their homework with this truck. It blew away my expectations of what a stock vehicle can do. 2 huge thumbs up to the Hummer engineering Dept.

I'm concerned with my rails too. I want to go to the Dallas area happening in Nov and am unsure whether to remove them...

No, Not really, It scraped a little bit but nothing major. Honestly, If you hit a rock big enough to put a hurting on your step bar then it is probably pretty close to hitting the body, I would rather it ruin my step bar then body so I would leave them on, just my 2 cents.

Take off the steps!! If you hit something hard enough the steps can actually push up into the body, so both will get damaged. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

anybody no how it does in the sand? I have just the base model and theres alot of desert sand here, I want to take it soon but im alittle nervous, because the last time we went my husbands truck didnt like the sand ....(its also a heavy chevy with the diesel so whats your take....
so....4x4 -4 door-3/4 ton on 35's-diesel OR stock h3---by the way his truck is like your driving along and then you hit the mud/sand and you can feel the truck slow up then SINK and then it climbs back out but the whole time your woundering if your going to have to use the winch and get dirty....We also have a quad trailer behind sometimes so what do you guys think....educate me so when my husbands blabbing his mouth i have some smart come backs

I have offroaded in sand and rock. The H3 does a great job of navigating the sand. The stability control helped out a lot in high speed cornering. Rock crawling was awesome, but I did come down on the steop bars a few times and they kinda bent back toward the rear wheels a little bit. But considering the blows they took Im amazed there was no body contact. Im going to remove them and ad the rocker protection for more clearance. I could not compliment enough how impressed I was with the H3's ability.
