Hey Everyone,

This problem started yesterday. If I turn my wipers off, they stay on!. On the lowest setting they go on every 5-15 seconds. No matter what I do they dont turn off unless I pull the fuse. Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it? My warranty is up, so if its a relay or something I can get myself I would like to try that....... Otherwise I know the dealer would charge me an arm and a leg..

Thanks!
Chris

My are screwed up too.
Last night, it was snowing like crazy and I got mine to stop (temporarily) by pushing the washer lever forward on the blinker lever. So I?m I was holding the lever down while I?m driving?it finally stopped. I mentioned it on the forum last year and one of the posts mentions taking the cover off of the housing and caulking to seal it. I just haven?t taken the time to do that.
So there was a recall on this? I didn?t take the extended warranty so I?m probably SOL.

Thanks for the info. Is there website I can punch my VIN into that will tell me if I have any recalls?

Thanks!
Chris

I could check for recalls, but that would require you giving me your vin, up to you

Could also call dealership and have them run the VIN. They can then tell you if there are any recalls for that VIN and if they have been handled already or need addressed yet. Just a thought, and trying to keep ya from getting a flood of VIN's to run HUMTECH :beerchug:

Thanks, ya that is the easiest way for sure. Any dealer can run the vin, takes about 5 min as long as the internet is working, ours seems to drop out all the time lol. As a tech i have access to gm vis, si and all the other sites anywhere so guess im just lucky that way

My wipers started this today...we've had non-stop rain for the last 3-4 days in our area, so I'm assuming there's water in the wiper control module as described in this thread: http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29583

Luckily, I don't typically use my wipers unless the rain is coming in sheets, so I pulled the fuse for now. If it dries up this weekend I guess I'll pull the cowl off and try Easy Ed's fix. I am NOT looking forward to messing with the cowl...it's such a PITA to get back on.

I'll post back results...

I've done this on my last 3 hummers. I had great luck with the first two. This one it worked for a little while then started acting up again. Now they just plain don't work. I've been using rainX all summer but it's time to buy a new module. :(

On a brighter note, I'm getting pretty good at taking the cowl on and off...

Strip it out, dry it off and fit it back in.

Also if you feel adventurous look for the dodgy resistor if you have faults still.

The one marked on the thread above is for the rear wash. Just look for a similar one with water damage.
