I just bought a set of SMA black hood handles used, there a little scuffed so I will flat black paint them.
My question
Do they mount with the lower side on the outside where they seem slightly angled to the outside,or the slightly lower side on the inside and the seem leveled upright ?
The ones I see in pic below seem to be mounted upright with lower part on inside but i notice that the front is slightly angled in pic.
I think the way in pic seems correct
I didnt get install instructions with them, what do you expect for $40.00.
Any help would be great thanks

mine did the same thing. I switched the sides and turned them around. I think they have a slight angle cut in them.

Hey! This is my H3 in ur picture!!:D
I installed them exactly according to the original instructions. Came with a nice little drilling sheet. I still have it somewhere. Don't know where but I'll check tonight. If I'll find them I'll post them here.
U need any more detailed pics?;)

I wasnt going to drill holes they came with no hardware.
I was going to use 3m outdoor double sided tape.
If you reverse from pic the handle itself would be tilted toward the outside on a angle.
The way in pic(I found on this forum http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif)they would be upright but a angle on the front edge ?
Pacey better pics would be gr8 to line up properlyhttp://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif
I noticed the bottom of the handles have a trademark ,one needs to faces up and one down.
as they are the same part.
Thanks 442

No Probs!
I'll shoot a couple of more detailed pics tonight and post them tmrw. As I remember it was a bit tricky at once. But then I had the drilling instructions.
Are you sure you just want to use tape for them? I mean the handles are quite heavy and with the combination of dust and rain over a short period of time I'm pretty sure you'll end up finding both of them stuck in your windscreen doing 80 on a freeway.

I use the good double tape a 1 inch piece should do it,I have the window visors taped and the marking light covers on for 4 years and they are holding up well.
Ill stick them on then let it cure 24 hours for maximum bond and try the tug test.
I have so many chips on my windshield if it flys off:eek: Ill get it replaced with insurance.
There was a hood handle someone had that were tape on.
Does the instructions say what way to put them ?
thanks again guys

So, as promised here are some more pictures. As you can see the Bugs and Flies have done their job well on the paint already.:(
As I said, this is the exact installation according to the manual. Still trying to find it somewhere because I remember me keeping it in case I have to transfer the handles to another H3 :giggling: .
However to bored to search through all my piles at the moment.
If you need any more info let me know. Alwys trying to help a fellow SMA Owner.

Thanks Pacey http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif
I think thats the way it looked better i tryed by setting in place.
That leaves the lower side toward the inside.
Pics helped alot ,if its not raining when I get home ill stick:giggling: them on :shhh:

two final pics.
If done right, the top of the handles are completely horizontal.
Good luck!

Thanks
got them on,I pulled up on them and the hood flexes so theres a good bond :excited:
Pics were gr8 thats the way I though they went but wasnt sure.
I noticed the inside is lined up straight to the loover with a small gap ,that was helpfull.
If you repaint yours rustoleum flat black(ace hardware) is a good match.
