Jesus. I'm a member of reddrumtackle forum because I fish on the outer banks of NC all the time, and I used to be the only hummer on the forum. So now there's a new guy on there with a H3T. He's spouting out about how his hummer does just fine as an AWD. I politely told him, no, it's a full time four wheel drive. I also stated how the AWD system vastly difers from 4WD. I even stated how the power is diverted as well as locking machanisms; however, I guess he's a mod because my posts were deleted, and the final verdict is that hummers are AWD.

Does anyone else just get F'n tired of dealing with idiots?

I do, especially given that most of the idiots have never driven what they are comparing. I have that experience. In fact, my rigs comprise a cross section of 4x4 vehicles that encompasses most brands and configurations.

My last ride was a JK Rubicon, now I own a Championship H3. Different vehicles with different positive and negative aspects. The JK has the edge off road in "some" cases due to the live front axle where the H3 blows the JK away on the highway in both handling and power.

It's a tradeoff, but being too ignorant to know the difference between the drive systems of a Subaru and a Hummer is quite yuppie. They must not realize that the heftier full time FWD vehicle contains a transfer case and selectable locker.

The worst of these is the part time FWD available on some vehicles that run in rear wheel drive and when slippage is detected the front wheels engage. I had a Liberty and a Blazer with those systems and did not care for them.

Yep, AWD and 4WD are animals of different colors. Those of us around a while still remember the 4 X 4s with the manual locking hubs, that you had to get out and twist the center cap to lock the front wheels after you had forgotten and were axle deep in mud. Then you had levers to engage 4 wd instead of buttons....... the good ole days.... You can't fix stupid!

I guess I must be old enough to be him then :crying:

They were great trucks, but trucks, we have many more creature comforts now. Competition back then came from Ford, Plymouth and Dodge. All with body on frame and solid axle construction. Your choice of V-8. I had two Blazers, one with a 350 and the one pictured with a 454. One Dodge Ramcharger with a tweaked 318. My dad had two different Traildusters, both full time four wheel drive with LSD.

Ah the good old days :clapping:

I remember a similar argument with someone I worked with...and that was IN the Hummer business. :notallthere:

That's one thing most more mature (nice words for old farts) Hummer owners have - a long history with 4 X 4s. I think that makes you appreciate the Hummer more. I've had a Jeep, a Scout, a Bronco, an F150 4 X 4 and an F 250 heavy duty 4 X 4 before the Hummers and none of them compare for utility, confort and getting through the muck than the H3 and the H2.

Better explain to your buddy why you have control buttons on the Hummer dash and the honda, subaru, and other awd do not:beerchug:

Same problem here in Texas. I fish from kayaks and also use my H3 Offroad Package with locking rear, to access remote places that I can launch my kayak into the bay. One young no-it-all in particular with a Jeep, is always bashing Hummers and has resulted in several threads being locked, because I don't let him get by with it.

I used to consider myself a Jeep person, till I drove an H3. I have had many 4WDs and I love my H3. It is as competent as any of them.
