guys, i am sorry for not searching, i just don't have at work to search. I have a customer with a Whipple charged 6.0 H2 and he wants me to add nitrous to his engine. I am not very familiar with the capabilities of the H2 engine so that is why I am asking you guys. He said he is making in the area of 550whp with the S/C and other supporting mods. He asked about 100 shot and i was like NOOOOOOOO....lets see what the engine is capable of first b/c at those numbers i'd be scared to put even a 35 on a stock engine without knowing it'll hold. should i just steer him towards water/meth instead? thanks for any input guys. once again, i'm not for not being able to search much. i am sure you guys have covered this before.

I'm not a mechanic but, the H2 engine is at its max before SC. If you rebuild the top, and transmission you would have better results. I would not add more power something is going to go. Of course you can upgrade as you go...
I have the SC with no problems. However I drive easy and mostly use the SC for towing, which of course strains the transmission.

I'm going to disagree with the Doc. Once the 6.0L engine hits the 500'ish BHP range, the durability of the stock short block becomes dubious.

Maybe I'm being an ass, but-If you build performance for a living, a fact gotten off of the ""I have a customer", you should either know the beast or refer the work out to a knowledgeable shop.

IMHO, N2O is not an option for a 6400lb,4WD/AWD vehicle. This type of vehicle needs to add low end/mid range torque for performance enhancement. I do enjoy the nitrous go-go ability, but only if the recipient is able to use the power. Between the part time effect and the sudden power increase, it is more kin to a street rod with a curb weight of under 4K lbs and that is likley to be in a competition environment, i.e. drag race, stop light Grand Prix, Tollboth Joust.....

ok...lemme explain, i for one don't think the nitrous is a good idea and told the customer so. but when a customer wants something...it's hard to sway them otherwise. this man is in his 50's and has spent a TON on his H2 and is wanting to spend more. he has a TON of performance modifications including handling, but now wants to add more power. I don't think he's wanting to use it a WHOLE bunch i think he wants it more for a "bling" factor. anyway.....like i said...i just wanted to know the capabilities of the engine. a piston is a piston and combustion is combustion....principles are the same accross the board...it's just a matter of what a stock engine is built to handle. i've already told him his tranny isn't gonna last long..but like i said...i don't think money is an problem....so...thanks for the input guys. that's exactly what i needed
