View Full Version : pics of rear wheel hanging
I'm unable to get any pictures to attach -- ftp error.
The pictures are on pbase if you wanna click through.
The trail got more interesting as you went. With no winch, stock tires, and noone else around, I decided to save the rest for another day http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Nice action shots...coolness level is high. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
Sorry -- no info on wheels yet.
I rifled thru the glove compartment. Apparently, the dealership didn't consider the possibility that I might need to buy a new rim.
Also, I just noticed that the spare tire has the stock wheel http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif
I'll give 'em a shout tomorrow regarding the make/model of the rims and post the result here.

Talked to the dealer about the wheels. Bad news from my perspective. The wheels were ordered from discount tire and then sent to a company in California for powder coating.
Below is a link to what I think is my wheel before powder coating. They are only $106 per wheel and are 16x8.

In order to get a fifth wheel for the spare, I have to go thru the dealership to ensure that the wheel looks exactly like the others. The dealership claims that the cost of powdercoating is fixed regardless of how many wheels are done. So, for one wheel, powdercoating is expensive. They want $300 for one wheel. I'm going to get two in the hopes of bringing the average cost per wheel down. When I bought the H3, we agreed on $700 for all four wheels.
If you want to try to get the dealership to give you the exact list of ingredients to recreate these wheels, call 512-681-3300 and ask for Toby. He is the aftermarket parts guy.

Interesting. I wouldn't have even thought of getting a polished wheel and PC'ing it.
That price seems way high, though. I'm sure you could get a local shop to do the wheel cheaper. Since it's a spare anyway, who cares if it matches exactly.

Search for DEI's thread about getting his done down here in Orlando, there is some good info in there. You can tell the PC company that you don't care if it takes longer if they just fit it in when they have room with other jobs. This should save you a fair amount on the PC cost.
