I bought my 06 Base on September 11; I have had it for 4 days now. I bought it for 4 wheeling and a second vehicle. I went to the dealer looking for an Adventure, but I took the salesman’s word, the base would do just as good off road. Maybe someone can answer this? I spoke with him today and he said, we would take the Base model back and just pay the difference between the two. It will be like you never bought the Base model. I don't know what to do. I can pick up the Adventure on Sunday if I choose. Am I doing the right thing? Do the locker, 33” tires and a trailer hitch make a $1000.00 difference? Will it drive any different? Any opinions? Thanks, Tim

In my opinion, it's well worth $1000.00 if your goig offroad. And it it looks like an entire different truck with the bigger tires.

Do it. Then you will have the truck you wanted in the first place and no reason to say "What If...".
Its only $1000. it will also help resale.
Plus you get that new car smell all over again... http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I planned on getting a base, but took an adventure due to color availability (and it looked cooler).

No regrets. I may not go offroad much, but just having the larger tires makes the truck look better and that's part of what having a Hummer is about.

I agree with the other guys about resale as well, the market will give you most of that $1000 back when (if) you sell.

Good luck!

They ought to pick up the extra 1000 for not telling you the off-road advantages of the adventure package.. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I am going to pick up the Adventure on Sunday. Thanks for all the responses. I will then have the HUMMER I wanted. Resale should be better as well. Thanks to everyone. I will post up again on Monday and let you know how it went. Thanks again, Tim

Brian, I do agree, but they didn't see it that way. lol

I would Jump all over it for just 1000.00 difference. I have used my locker and it rocks, the tire size is great although I am not a big fan of the actual Bridgestone tire itself. Hitch is additional $300.00 dollar option if they are not charging you for that bonus...
I wouldnt consider even buying anything less than the Adventure package. Even if just for re-sale benefit

Don't be surprised if the deal is not that easy once you get there.

I did the paperwork today and they wanted me to take it, but they had to clean it up and get the windows tinted so they let me keep the base model til Sunday morning. They told me to try to keep the miles down lol. It should be that easy, but we will see. Let you guys know on Monday.

The adventure series tires are worth it alone. Plus the gear ratios etc. are much better on the adventure I believe. I think this is one of main things that sets the hummer out from the rest of the suv's for offroad. That and the approach angles.

UPDATE Everything went as planned!http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I traded in the Base model for the Adventure. They took the deal I made on the Base, and just added the price of the Adventure to it, and gave me a new one. They took the one back I have been driving for a week with 1k miles on it, and gave me the H3 of my choice. I couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend Lund Hummer in Phoenix. My salesman, Dave Wilkinson, is all about customer service. There are quite a few differences between my old Base and my new Adventure. The first thing I noticed is, how much the base drives like a car, compared to the Adventure. Not that the Adventure rides bad, quite the contrary. It rides like a capable 4 wheeler should. It soaks up the bumps like nothing and is totally controllable at all times. The transfer case gearing is incredible. The gas mileage on the other hand is not as good as the Base, but the acceleration seems smoother and effortless on the Adventure. You really had to mash the gas to get the base rolling, but it got better gas mileage? That doesn’t really make sense to me, but it seems to be true. I won’t know for sure, until I can get a few more miles on the Adventure. I know the bigger tires aren’t going to help. I am only at 187mi. right now. The Base got better as it broke in. I hope the Adventure does the same. All in all, I am an extremely happy HUMMER H3 owner. I have to give the dealership some credit; they could have made this a terrible experience, with me not being happy with the base model, but not the case. The buying experience has been great and the ownership, even better. I would really like to thank everyone who replied and helped me make the decision to go for the Adventure, and not settle for the Base. I hope to see you guys out on the trail. Remember, always wave to another H3 brother or sister! Thanks, Tim

Glad to hear everything went as planned -- now where are the pics of you using the adventure package?
