I am going to be giving up my right to the Slate Blue Lux/Adv that I ordered weeks ago. It should be available in the next two weeks. She will be the ultimate H3, with XM radio, sunroof, trailering equip/pckg., side curtain airbags, black crossbows, AND a 5 speed manual tranny.
I hate to give her up before I even take possession from the dealer, but it is the best thing for me to do. Anyone interested in acquiring from the dealer (possibly at GMID price) let me know here or via private message and I will hook you up. I want to make sure she goes to a good home. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Nooooo!
Sorry to hear about you not purchasing the H3.
Any particular reason why? I.e. what are you getting instead of the H3? Just curious.
I'm sure somebody will want that beast!

Thanks for commiserating (sp?) with me. I hate giving up the Beast more than any car I ever owned, and I never actually got to own her yet and won't. The fun side of me regrets this more than any vehicle decision ever, but the practical side of me has won out for the first time in my life. My wife and I are now expecting our third child next year (no worries, she drives a Honda Odyssey). With the 12,000 miles a year I drive JUST commuting to work plus another 5,000 or more annually, I just don't think with the way I drive it is practical enough for me. Mind you, I don't have to be practical. The wife never minds what I drive--I just got out of a 350Z roadster. It's the feeling in my stomach when I go to the pump, when I pay my insurance bill, etc. that made me give in to the dark side to choose a more practical vehicle. It will save me $200 dollars a month in payments, insurance, and oh yeah, fuel...
My chosen ride (picked up Tuesday) is a 2005 VW Passat TDI. That's right, she's a diesel. I owned a 2000 model Jetta diesel and am very familiar with them. About $500 for some minor mods, and she'll do 0-60 in under 8.0 sec. (when called upon) and yield 30 city/40 hwy for mpg. There's room for two car seats, plus a small booster between them in the back seat. She's black with black leather, loaded out with al available options. VW won't be exporting '06 or '07 model TDI Passats into the US until the clean diesel standard is met, prolly late 2007, so maybe 2008 models. Given that, I expect the resale value to remain high, especially if fuel prices continue to go up.
I have been posting and lurking here for over two years, so I will stick around, living vicariously through many of you. Maybe there is another H3 (or H?) somewhere in my future. (I'm dreaming, visualizing a diesel H? that gets 24/32 right now...)

Sorry to hear you won't be getting the H3 ... I'm hoping to get one early next year as the second car primarily for the Wife to drive http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif ... but I'll get it on the weekends!
My daily driver is an 2001.5 (same body style as the '05) Passat 1.8T. If you haven't already check out http://www.passatworld.com. Used to be clubB5 and it's a great forum with TONS of information on the Passat. There aren't many TDI guys around there but you'll still be able to get a lot of info from there. http://www.vwvortex.com also has a lot of information but I've found the discussions more friendly on passatworld.
Cheers and good luck.
