Ok so here is the down low on my H3 dilemma so far.

Aug 19th, Ordered. 5 Spd, Adventure Package, Sunroof, MP3/Moonsoon, etc...

Got a Build date Sept 21.

Build Date pushed back to Oct 17th due to allocation of Sunroofs to Lux based H3 first http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Sept 13th, Changed order to Included Lux Package and Home Link. Current Build now, 5Spd, Lux, Off-Road, Sunroof, etc...

No change in build date due to the addition of the Lux package (or so I Thought)

Called yesterday Build date was bumped up to Sept 30th http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Car is on route to dealership and received a copy of the build sheet yesterday via email.

Build sheet does not list the Off-road package http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Dealer say's they can put the five 33" on for cost $750 http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Define Irony. The only package I really wanted from the start was the off-road package, which is now the only thing missing http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

So what would you do http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Take it this week as is with the added 33" tires (no E-Locker's though) (the 33" are a non-negotiable issue)

OR

Start the whole order process over again to get what I want and possibly have it by mid November.

Did you try doing a dealer search to see if any dealers have what you want on the lot within a few hundred miles? My local dealer doesn't have what I want, but I have found about 8 around CA that meet what I want. I am still just trying to decide on the color.

I agree with DDWH and sfox above, with one addition.

The one thing that you wanted was the Adventure package. Get the Adventure package. You are always going to be saying to yourself that you miss it (especially if you plan on wheeling). You will always look at the truck as "nice" but there will always be somthing missing. You are going to own the truck for years and years. Get what you want.

Oh, and get the dealer to push your vehicle up in the production schedule as they (or GM) farked up the build.

I agree. DO NOT SETTLE you've waiting this long already, you're practically at pro at it now, what's another month?

You dont get the the low gear tranfer case either. Get the adventure it will help in resale also .

H3 gray aventure ,sunroof, steps ,roof rack ,smokers package ,window vents, sunroof visor, hard spare tire cover, h3 valve caps ,and mudflaps 2,600+ miles

HummerNewbie

I certainly wouldn't settle. As several mentioned, you will regret it if you do. I think it is ridicules that the dealer wants you to pay $750 to put 33"s on a vehicle that they got wrong. I have not checked the price of these tires but sounds to me like they are charging you almost retail to somewhat cover their screw up and probably keeping to 32"s http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

You can get through another month. I have been waiting since March 18th because I wanted Slate Blue. Of course I could have had it before now if it were not for some unforeseen circumstances but I do no regret waiting to get what I really want.

Surferjo - I do feel your pain. Being patient sucks http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif. But look at the situation that HummerNewbie is in. Thats patience. Hell, I won't be able to have mine until April unless I'm willing to take a total bath on my 4Runner lease (which I'm not). Wait the month, its worth it.

Well it looks like I'm going to have to take the advice of my (future) Hummer peers.

The Dealer locate thing is next to impossible since I’m looking for a 5spd.
I think they produce one 5spd for every 20 Autos. At least that’s the ratios I'm seeing on the lots.

Thanks for the advice.

Don't get the stock 33's. Seems like you really want this truck for off road purposes. You'll just end up spending more on mud tires anyway. Just get the stock tires and put mud tires on the stock rims. Look at my recent post on 33's.

BTW - H3 inventory is huge in Seattle. Is it that sparse in New York?

Well I have to take the 33" if I go with the off-road package, which is what i really want. I dont want to loose the E-Lockers.

My dealer has over 70 H3's on the lot but only a few 5spd's and they are all stripped.

Sorry if you already posted this, but lemme know what your specs are and I'll check around here for you. I think you're looking for stick, lux/adv combo, slate blue, sun roof - right?

Surferjo
10-21-2005, 05:50 PM
Boulder Grey
Ebony Interior
5spd
Lux
Off-road
Home Link
Sunroof
Black Side Steps
Trailering Package and Equipment
Rubber Mudder Cargo mat.

I think thats pretty much it Except for some dealer options.

My dealer is doing a locate right now but thanks anyway.

Wow, that sucks. I've been out there and they have a ton of H3's. When I was looking, my dealer had zero Adventure packages. I ended up with the Lux package - which is fine by me. I hope they speed up production. This will give you time to accessorize. Be careful. It's an addiction.

Gotcha. Then you'll want these in a 295/75-16. You can mount these on your stock rims.
They are a tad taller but will not rub and give that rig of yours a beefy look.

Surferjo, after adding the lux package your order is the same as mine except I got it in black. My dealer really emphasized that if I changed my mind it would be hard to get it off his lot with the lux and manual combo. That really sucks that you're still waiting. Are you sure you're dealer actually put the order in when he said he did? Either way honestly I would order it again somewhere else. You should get what you want.

Just got back from the dealer. I counted over 140 H3's on the lot (With 40 more on the way). 2 of them were 5spd's

If I re-order the Truck I will be looking at an early December Delivery date. Dam that's over 16 weeks from the time I placed the order.

May be ill just take an auto and have it this weekend.

I test drove the 5 speed tonight again and it felt slower for some reason.

Thanks all.

I HATE it when people think that kind of thing is acceptable.

I would be so pissed , I'd email every dealer on the Hummer list and find the truck.

Not cool, no offroad packsge....no sale.

They aren’t pushing me to take the truck (not too hard anyway) and they are completely acknowledging the mistake. But other than ordering a new one there is not much they can do. Other than that they have been pretty straight up with me.

Oh wait I almost forgot. This is kind of pissing me off. If I reorder the truck I have to pay the new GM pricing since it will be a new factory order. This will run about $600 or so more. Sunroof went from $800 to $950 Trailering package went from $270 to $350 also the Lux and Off-road also went up but I'm not sure by how much.

I have a GMID number so its not like I’m paying list but still I don’t see why I should have to pay more because they (GM, Dealer, who knows) screwed up.

That my friend...is CRAP. I'm glad yo are holding it together though, I wouldn't be able to.
IMHO, he should honor the pricing on what you ordered. Based solely on the fact you did not receive what you ordered.

I don't think making a complaint with Hummer about your dealer would be whining in your case, I mean thats pretty rediculous! I ordered mine 3 days after you Upgraded. You should have had yours long before now.

At the very least they should honor the price before the increase on a new order. I would be mad as hell and I'd let them know it. It sucks but people are more likely to make things right once you start getting pissed as long as your reasonable.

I had to wait 60 days to get the 5 spd manual, adventure pkg and sunroof.
Good Luck !!

FWIW, my next HUMMER (and oh yes there will be a next), will be bought out of NY and probably at Lynch Hummer or Sewell. I hear nothing but positives about those dealers and if my experience with Lynch's parts dept. is any indication, it will definitely be the right choice. Call'em -- choose from their large selection, fly out and then drive it home.

One of the reasons I bought local was for the "after purchase service". I thought maybe they would treat me ...well...like I bougth a $35k truck from them. Not the case. So, next time, they won't get my business.

I'm glad you decided to wait! I know wou will be also. That wait time seems long though. Our first H3 took only about 7 weeks. We just ordered one ffor me 2 weeks ago (the dealer placecd the order last Wed though) and he said I will have it the last week of Nov.
Black LUx/ Ebony int. /off road pkg/ sunroof/ XM/ NAV. Homelink/ brush guard/ mudder floor mats.

Don't settle, you'll regret it especially the locker. I prefer the auto for offroading--less chance of stalling and changing gears constantly is a pain. But get it how you want it and enjoy.

Birch white, Adventure, auto, no chrome, comming soon Gobi rack.

My dealer (Hummer by Karl in New Canaan, CT) just got this in:

Slate Blue Metalic
Ebony Leather Interior
5-Speed
Lux Pkg
Off-Road Suspension
Sunroof

Black sidesteps, trailer hitch and rubber cargo mat can be added.

So, only diff is color. If you really want boulder grey color, they will locate.

Lemme know if you can live with slate blue ...

If you get the truck without the adventure package and the dealer or you install 33s you will still not have: 4.1:1, E-locker, 4.56:1 axles. I wouldn't do it. Even if you end up paying hundreds more you will eventually get over it, you will NOT get over the lack of off road performance.

Man I thought this topic would have died a while ago.

Just to keep you up to date. When my truck arrived last week there was another Boulder Grey 5spd on the carrier with it. “Strange” says my dealer since they never order 5spds unless specifically for a customer.

Upon closer inspection it had the exact specs as the H3 I ordered but missing the Lux package.

So it would seem that somewhere along the line my Boulder Grey, Lux, Off-Road, Sunroof etc, got broken up into to vehicles. Both equipped the same except one is a Lux package and the other is an Adventure package.

I’m going to go with the Adventure since I have leather in my TT and I really don’t like it.

Thanks all.
