I was reading an article today in Peterson's four wheel and off road magazine about the best four wheel drive vehicles ever built, At the top of the list where the H1 Alfa and the H3 http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif... this was a pleasant surprise after reading so much bias BS about Heep's and Toylet's in there publications http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I went and got the magazine - it says....

H3

"All right, back to the fuzzy lines. Though AMG still produces H1, GM/Chevrolet produces the H2 and H3. And the H3 has got to be the best 4X4 that GM ever sent out of the box. Yeah, I know it's torsion-bar-sprung IFS, but the rear sports a 1/2-ton 10 bolt packed with an Eaton E-locker and can be ordered with either a 4:10:1 or 4.56:1 gear ratio. The 3.5L inline five-cylinder engine produces 220 hp and 225 lb-ft to torque that can be sent through an optional five-speed manual transmission that made Editor Rick Pewe automatically proclaim it better than a manual-tranny-deficient H2 before even driving one. The off-road package comes with 33-inch tires and the whole thing comes off much less offensive than the H2, not to mention that this one is actually strangely good-looking."

Dear God, someone's going to have a stroke again over the 4.10 and 4.56 statement.....

You DO know what the anti H3 people are going to say right? "He didn't even drive one..."

Nice article. When reviewers actually evaluate the rig as an off-roader (instead of just another mall parker), it usually comes out near the top of the list.

Doesn't mean they never drove one, it just means they read the old marketing information and didn't get the correct information that only one rear axle ratio is offered; 4.56:1.

I was pretty surprised that for a supposed off-road mag they didn't test an adventure package, or even appear to take it offroad. It almost seemed like they ripped off the article from one of the car mags. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
