I feel better, I was just a little off this morning. I really really really want to see the movie "Jarhead" today. It is directed by Sam Mendes, "American Beauty" "Road to Perdition" I like his style. So I'm going to check it out today, hopefully.

It isn't cold enough here for Chili.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif But I made some recently when it was. Yummy.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I use 2 cans stewed tomatoes w/ little green peppers, a chopped white onion, 1 can whole tomatoes, chili powder to taste, a little garlic salt, salt & pepper, 2 small cans of tomato sauce, a little basil, 2 cans red kidney beans undrained and 2 lbs ground beef browned with a little worcestershire and chili powder, but I never use a recipe. I don't like it real hot with so much chili powder it's brown looking.

I just taste every now and then and let it simmer all day. Serve with shredded Sharp Cheddar on top along with oven toasted butter and parmesean french bread. But it is better the next day. Chili, Pot Roast, Stew and soups are the only things I will eat again generally.

P- "JarHead" is a movie about a man's experience in the Corps. during Desert Storm. Not going to see it today, maybe tomorrow.

CP - I want a Jarhead review big time. It looked excellent, might be willing to dump off the baby with a stranger to go see that one.

Today was a busy one. Too freakin hot - 80F in November, WTF???? Cold front next weekend will knock it down to the mid 70s. That's just wrong. I want COLD, dammit. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

We did a major cleaning of the garage today. About 5 boxes of Ebay stuff, 29 boxes of Halloween to go into the attic, and 2 carloads of returns to Lowes/HD. All the Halloween fence and columns fit into the corner of the garage. So now I'm exhausted and grimy. Blah.

Hubby was going to make creme brulee today but we ran out of time because of the cleaning. That sucked. I am in need of a major creme brulee fix.

Know what else sucked? Kid won't stop spewing. Ever. There are like 10 burp cloths draped over chairs right now, drying. The house smells like kid puke. I've been doing laundry all day. Thankfully he slept in till 7 this morning, otherwise I would have been looking into the "Baby Moses" law. Oh, and he learned how to roll from his back to his tummy on Monday. So now I get up 3-4 times a night (being the paranoid freak I am) to make sure he's still breathing. Face down buried in the mattress, but somehow air still gets in to that kid. I'm a little less worried now tho, he's managed to flip back onto his back. I liked him better when I could park him somewhere and he was in the same place when I came back.

Hollywood hates the military. It is damn near impossible for me to believe this movie will be anything other than a trashing of the modern military in general and the Corps in particular. I would LOVE to be wrong, but I'm willing to bet it'll go along these lines....
The military is evil.
All soldiers are stupid losers.
America sucks.

I wait these days and watch the sh1t out of Hollyweird on DVD on a nice big plasma. That way, when I rant and rave at the screen, I don't disturb anyone.

Careful it has a long latency, you do not notice the heat until the 4th or 5th bite, but then you are on our knees. The first time I served that most people wanted to add hot sauce, once they had the 5th bite, they were drinking heavily. it has great flavor and good heat

I hope you are wrong also, I didn't see any names that would prevent me from seeing it. (i.e.- Robbins, Sarandon, Penn etc..) Some of the reviews I read say it depicts the psychological impact of war on a man, not a lot of blood and guts, it is similar to Platoon or Full Metal Jacket (awesome movie), and that it is anti-war but not liberal. Which sounds scary but it is based on a book written by a marine about his experience. Hopefully it will further my appreciation for our troops.

Trust me, if anyone will let you know about any judgemental or liberal undertones, I will.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Stacy,

I remember that feeling of worry, it is awful! I used to get up and check all the time too. That is great he rolled over! The cuteness of blanket play has arrived.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm sorry about the puking (this forum has some pukey kids http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif), have you introduced anything new? Poor thing. I bet if you give him some spicy chili he might think beforehand.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gifhttp://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Stacy..how old is your little one? You said that he was rolling over now so I'm guessing he must be close age to mine...5months. To keep mine (Payton) from rolling over in the night, I puchased a sleep wedge. It's been a good investment so far. Just an idea for ya!

Yep, the little double wedgy thing does it. Ours has been rolling all over back and forth and we had one of those dealys from the first kid and it locks her down from rolling while in the crib.

Ours will be 6 mnths in a couple of weeks and is sitting up some on her own as well as scooting backwards on her tummy. Little **** will be crawling in no time.

H1 - you guessed it, he'll be 5 months on Wednesday. We opted to just take off the crib bumpers and let him roll. The problem is, he prefers to be on his tummy - he'll lay there for an hour or 2 in the morning and just babble if he's on his tummy. If he's on his back, he gets pretty mad. From what I've read, if they can roll both ways then the risk of SIDS is pretty much eliminated. So I'll go with that, and the extra hour or 2 of sleep in the morning. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

CP - I think it was because I didn't get the Chocolate Tower from Outback this time, he was punishing me. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif He only does the SpewFest thing now and then...it doesn't seem to bother him at all. I guess if I were truly motivated, I'd keep a food diary. Spicy doesn't seem to bother him, so I don't know what does - other than bananas, something about bananas creates Stinky Screaming Baby. I guess I'll just be wary of wearing Dry Clean Only until he grows out of this puke phase.

Dang, Paragon - your little girl is motoring! Must have been the magic of Moab. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
