Seriously, I work in DC, but live 20 miles from there because it's such a nasty, crime-infested sh!thole. Aside from all the accolades, if Mercer thinks DC is one of the best places to live in the U.S. or world, they can't possibly know what they are talking about. |

It's a compilation of MANY factors. The crimerate may be up but the healthcare, education and other factors most likely played a big role for that ranking. The per capita factor plays big also. But ask them. Mercer probably has over 1000 Marinehawk like brainiacs working for them. I'm sure they would know this formula.:p |

If you believe in Mercer, I invite you to send one of your children to a public school or hospital in DC or hike them accross much of the city. Though, I really hope you don't for their sake. As far as education, maybe they just mean universities. But that doesn't significantly make life better for non-college students. Unless you like living in a Finnish sauna, the weather here sucks. I guess, when I walk outside in the 93 degree temperatures and 90% humidity, and immediately want to die, I can realize that it is, in reality, very comfortable because the 15,000 Mercer smart dudes know DC weather better them me. |
