HX Opinions

I have been waiting for this new rig to show itself for a long time.

What does everyone think? In my opinion the damn thing looks great!

I'm loving the coilovers on every corner, the electronic detachable sway bar, and the lockers on both axles from the factory.

If it performs like it looks, this thing is gonna kick ass!

You got to remember it's a concept. The H3t was an awsome concept, had winch bumpers ect. The cool stuff doesn't make it to production that much

If the specs were out and seemed good, I would jump in on that concept as fast as I could sell my current one though.:excited:

I hope American car makers realize that if they suck up some of the extra dough they need to make a quality vehicle they will sell more. I hope to never own a vehicle from Japan, but they have better features for the same price! I know there are nationalist type people that would agree.

But I am seriously excited about the Hx.

I'm excited about the removable tops, doors, etc. It looks great; just hope they offer it in manual trans.

Re: HX Opinions

Yeah I hope the reality comes closer to the concept this time around. I would definitely get one of those. My 2 is getting a bit long in the tooth and the H3 is such a disappointment. I don't really need the size of the 2 that bad and would love a capable and sharp looking off roader. They should at least provide customers the ability to make it like the concept through options. The only way to take sales from jeep will be to out do the jeep. That means as good, if not more offroad capable right out of the dealer's door, and some total kick ass styling exterior and especially interior. :beerchug: :perfect10s: :perfect10s: :perfect10s: :perfect10s: :perfect10s: I will be waiting to sign up for one.

I not too sure about the 4-wheel independent, and of course it depends what diffs they put in it :shhh: , but design-wise, I LOVE IT and would probably get one if its anything like the concept. :D

I like it a lot and would offer up my 2008 JK Wrangler Sahara Unlimited as a sacrifice!

I don't know about that. My last 2 personal trucks were introduced as concepts first.
2002 Avalanche: Red, just like the concept truck.
2006 H2 SUT: Orange, just like the concept truck.

I don't remember what if anything special the Avalanche had when it was a concept. I think the shocker on it was the midgate and the body cladding. About the only gadget the H2 SUT didn't have was the night vision camera.

I cant wait to get a close look at the H4. My wife could end up being the happy owner of one. That is of course, if she lets me borrow it once in a while.:p

Re: HX Opinions

The overwhelming response so far is that this rig looks outstanding, and I couldn't agree more.

Hummer has made no secret of the fact that they are calling Jeep out.

In spite of all the comparisons between Jeep and the Hummers (H1's, H2's and H3's), the Jeep always used in comparisons between the brands has been the Wrangler, even though the Hummers are really in the Grand Cherokee and the Commanders price range.

This time Hummer is targeting the Wrangler, by far Jeeps most capable rig. Style-wise this battle is over as far as I'm concerned, the Hummer kicks the Jeeps ass. However, styling is not what has sold most of those Jeeps over the years, ability is. I have my fingers crossed and am hoping that Hummer brings the rest of the package as well, strength and articulation are why the Wrangler alone in the Jeep line-up still sports solid axles. If Hummer is going at the Wrangler (and telling everybody about it), this HX (H4) concept better be able to compete. It won't win the fight on looks alone, without a loss of credibility to the Hummer brand (a pro wrestler might look tough, but I would bet money on Fedor Emelianenko).

I think the aftermarket that is so essential to long term success in the 4x4 world, will embrace this rig if Hummer brings ability to the platform.

I sincerely hope they have some kind of (strong-ass) rabbit up their sleeve with that fully independent design, or I'd rather see them stick 2 solid axles under that thing (Dana 60's, they could leave the lockers and reservoir coil-overs too :D ).

Style won't get us up Pritchett Canyon. ;)

Man, I hope Hummer gets this thing right.

Re: HX Opinions

I love it! I have an H2 right now as a business vehicle (hauling photo equip and lights), but I could see adding this as more of a recreational vehicle.

I don't know why, but it reminds me of the Toyota RSC concept vehicle from a few years ago (but less car like).

I'm also hoping the production version stays true to the concept. If you think about it, the H2 was pretty close to the concept vehicle exept for the interior, winch and trim.

Re: HX Opinions

Another thing to consider about this new rig. If they build it as strong and capable as we hope, and price it at, or just above the Wranglers (X, Sahara, Rubicon packages)

There will be thousands and thousands of these running around out there.

They will become as common as Jeeps. I'm cool with that, because I'm keeping the H2. :D

Dont' hold your breath for solid axles, at least not in the front. I wouldn't be surprised to see a straight axle in the back though. I also doubt we'll see coilovers on the production model. Hopefully they learned their lesson with the H3 and will put in cast iron diffs (at least 8.5"). And keep the front/rear lockers. :D

The other big issue will be aftermarket support. They need to follow what Toyota did with the FJ and let some aftermarket companies get a hold of it prior to release so we'll have products ready to go from the start.

Quick Photoshop color change...Wanted to throw a cool green on the HX/ Looks cool I think. Maybe a color they will use. Looks a bit like the Jeep Rescue Green but a bit more rich.
