I have started getting the LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR notice on my driver information location above the steering wheel. The problem is, the door ain't ajar... My H2 is a 2003. I know Ed G. posted this same issue back in June but no one ever came back to him. The suggestion was to take it to the dealership.

I really hate going to the dealership since I'll see the 2004 Black Diamond H1 Wagon there that they want me to buy, and that I want to buy, but that I can't afford to buy yet... Damn... |

HUMMERDOGG,
When I took my H2 to the dealership with the "right rear door ajar" they ended up replacing the BCM. They first tried replacing the door actuator switch because they had repaired an H2 with the "left rear door ajar" message by doing so. Call McGinnis on I-10 they'll get you fixed. Ed |
Ed.G-
Thanks for responding... I actually bought mine from McGinnis and will give them a call tomorrow telling them what it's doing. Hopefully, it doesn't take too long to fix... |
Good Luck!

Just finished with Right rear door Ajar. Took 2 weeks to fix replaced door switch. Stripped all wires and traced for shorts. Then they replaced the BCM, just like I told them two weeks earlier. No further problems. Jerry |
drmiles-
I should have read all the way through your post. I looked at the title, saw air suspension, and skipped it since mine doesnt' have the air suspension. Anyways, the bigger issue. I get in the truck today and Lo and Behold, no warning... WTF??? I guess my H2 was spying on me last nite and saw me type this thread and got concerned that I might just trade her in for the H1 Wagon if I were to take her to the dealership. I'll wait to see if it pops up again... |
There have been reports of the BCM malfunctioning Intermittently before failing completely.
They returned my truck the first time saying that it fixed itself, and to see if it happened again |
More than likely it will come back. Mine went through a cycle of showing the warning and not showing the warning. About the 3rd or 4th time it stayed on for good.

Re: LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR
What is the bcm and can it be changed out at home?

The BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) otherwise known as Chassis Brain Box, is located behind the headlight switch. It has 6 plugs in it. There really should be no reason to remove the BCM as it can be re programmed in the truck with a class 2 scanner that is capable of doing function tests. But the location of the BCM is top left of instrument panel above the fuse block. It is item number 1 in the picture. Re: LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR
Thanks is there anything I can do with the current bcm or do I just need to replace it? This door ajar really bugs me as I have the amp steps and the right side step stays down now as it thinks the door is open. Any help is much needed thank you.

Re: LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR
Any one have a cost on this bcm?

Re: LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR
I couldn't find any BCMs online or on Ebay. I have an H2 '06 parts CD and the price in '06 was $298. I'm guessing it runs in the 300s now and you will probably have to go to the dealer. Have you tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it?

Re: LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR
No I have not, is that meant to help?

Re: LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR
Well it was ok for awhile but the right rear door is the bad sensor. It will not open the amp step or put it down. I am wondering if it is the bcm or that door's sensor. I think it is the reason my factory alarm keeps going off at random times. Out of no where the door will read ajar and the amp steps goes down then the factory alarm goes off. Is there any way to disconnect that one door so the truck wont read it open or closed?

Re: LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR
Anybody know how to by-pass this so the air suspension will work?

Re: LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR
i have had this same problem, and bypassed using a heavy gauge wire and jumped the pins on the BCM.
i dont have access to my H2 right now to show which pins i jumped, as i am deployed right now. you might be able to find the layout some where online or here. as a suggestion, jump it to the rear hatch door instead of one of your other doors. right now i have it jumped to the drivers door, but when ever i hit the button to roll down a window, it unloaks, and locks my doors. basically breaking the connection. so if you jump it to the rear hatch, it should solve the issue all together. |
