Hi,
I got the neo ion ipod adapter all installed.
It works and sounds great.

My only problem now is that I want to run the
cable lines through the center into my center
armrest so that I can hook up the ipod and leave
it in there.

How the heck do I do that? Do I have to drill??
I can't seem to figure out where to go from here.
Here is a picture of how far I got.
Thanks for your help.

You'll probably have to drill a hole to get it inside the storage area.

I haven't taken that section apart (yet ) but from the picture it looks like you should be able to run the cable along either side of the tray. Then you can drill a hole at the bottom of the armrest storage and fish it through there. Good luck.

If you drill a hole here doesn't it go into the storage area?

nmikes 04-07-2006 11:21 PM

Holy crap... thats where mine is... got a hard case and drilled it into the recess there on the bottom of the armrest that flips up. only hole I drilled was at the base where the hinges are. From there I was able to feed it down and snag it with a coat hanger to tuck the length near the carpet to the dash. I didn't dis-assemble anything on the center armrest. Will try to post pics this weekend.

The cup holder top would be covering that area and I am not sure if there would be enough room for the wire once the cover is back in place. I was thinking maybe somehow getting UNDER that grey flat area you indicated.

Below are 3 more pics of the center area.

Try to find something the same diameter or slightly larger diameter as the wire. Place it where you might drill, them place the cover back in place. If it doesn't hit the test item, then you should be fine.

Where did you get your adapter from? How much did it cost? Did you do the initial install yourself?

I don't have an Ipod, but I would love to have an open auxillery input for some other portable things I have.

nmikes 04-08-2006 03:07 AM

yep, thats the place... however I wasn't entirely honest about not taking anything apart. If you unscrew the armrest, drill your hole you can run the wire around the hinge once you screw the armrest back down. So the hole drilled is unnoticable, being covered by the hinge.

Neo Ion
www.mp3yourcar.com $199
comes with all cables needed
I have the base 1cd-radio with no XM.
You hook this up easily and now the radio thinks XM is hooked up. XM1 is your ipod, XM2 is ... probably regular XM if I had it.

Then you have an additional auxillary RCA input which I think is a great feature. At any time you can add any item that you can connect with any RCA hookup.

The install was simple thanks to the many posts on this site (considering I don't have any car install experience). I have some install pics if you want to see them.

Should I even bother to ask you how you fished that all the way underneath the armrest? Impressive.

Sweet! I did it!
Thanks for the suggestions!
Here are the two final pics. The drillhole was a hackjob, but it worked.

Don't go with that. Get one that's hardwired thru your factory stereo. Then you can use your factory stereo to control your ipod. Why have a bunch of gadgets all over the place. Save your money and get a new system that has everything.

Something like this.......http://www.installer.com/cars/by_car.php?carid=7688

Wow - wish I had seen that unit before buying my soundgate one...

Factory HU control would be where it's at, seeing as how the H3 offers no spots for unsightly, accessible ipod mounting.
