3" Keys
I have cranked my t-bars up to 1 7/8" front lift.
Dose anyone know if the 2-3" lifts (Keys) actaully get you a 3" lift or is that BS? Also if I put 1-1 1/4" shackle in he rear do I need shocks and brakelines? |
Re: 3" Keys
There is enough adjustment in the stock keys to level out the truck. You shouldn't need new keys.
I did the 1.25" shackle lift in the back and added new Bilstein shocks with bar pin eliminators (couldn't find correct length shocks with bar pin). So far, I haven't had an issue with the brake lines, although they were pretty tight with the swaybar disco'd. Here's the thread with all the info on my upgrades. http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...ick+disconnect |
Re: 3" Keys
I did the shackles from Samco, I think there are only 3/4" longer. A different shock was not needed for them nor was extending the brake lines necessary.

Re: 3" Keys
I hate to sound like an idiot, but here goes. The extended shackles in the back make your truck taller right?

They are 1.5" longer, giving you .75" of lift. |

Yes. The amount of lift is about half of the difference in shackle length. So a 2" longer shackle would give you about 1" of lift. |
Re: 3" Keys
Sewie thanks but I want to know can I actually get 3" out of the ad on key.
Are they different than stock or is it a scam? |
Re: 3" Keys
The keys are re-indexed so, yes, you can crank them farther. But you really shouldn't. You'll be creating really bad angles for the CV and tie-rod end. More than a couple inches and you should really be looking at a true IFS lift kit.

One, you shouldn't turn the t-bars up all the way, because it's very hard on the front end and it makes the truck walk on rough roads. Two, the keys only lift the truck a 11/2 over stock and for every 2" that you add the the rear shackle you only gain 3/4 of an inch. |
