Nail Polish remover to get out marks off their vehicle? There are some marks on my car and no matter how hard i scrub i just spread it a bit.. so do you think if i try nail polish remover to get out the marks if it will ruin the paint?

What kind of marks? Bug marks? Bird poop? Road tar? I've never tried nail polish but a light coating of WD40 followed by some elbow grease can remove a lot of gunk without damaging the paint.

I'd be worried it would damage something. They make some heavy duty stuff to remove road tar and bugs. Have you tried that?

Re: Has Anyone Ever used....??

I've used a kerosene soaked rag to remove bugs, tar and some of the black marks from the automatic car wash's rubber contact wheels....

But the state of California has determined that kerosene coming in contact repeatedly with a rat's eye will cause it to lose its eyesight and possible mutate into some form of cancer...so be careful.

Goop Remover works pretty well, as does rubbing alcohol.

Re: Has Anyone Ever used....??

:iagree: with all the responses, but nail polish remover will eat right through the paint  or at the very least melt into the paint. A clear coat rubbing compound will work if you take your time and use a circular motion .

I would NEVER use nail polish remover on the finish of a car! What type of marks are you talking about. Are they swirl marks or something that you could use rubbing compound on, however, a little rubbing compound goes a long way. If it's swirl marks, I like Maguires swirl remover, often used on classic cars and available online or in many automotive departments. For tar I use WD40 on a watered down rag, and for bugs nothing beats Coca Cola.

No need to search WD40 its a spray lub that should be at all auto stores and you can also find it at the grocery store.
You might as well spray your lock cylinders, door hinges, hood latch, parking brake ect,go to town with it

Elbow grease is the extra effort that you might need to put into something to get the job done. You can't buy it (ok, maybe you can hire it out) you're just born with it. :)

Latches and hinges on the doors and hood should be lubed with white lithium grease.

Dont trust the dealer to lube everything up,I had my first 2 oil changes done at the dealer and they said they were going to lube all pivit points latches ect the either forgot or didnt bother.:twak:
I do it every oil change.
I also use white lithuim spray grease over the Wd40 on everything exept key holes.
Buy a can of each its good to have around and they last a long time.

Try Brake Cleaner or Electronic tuner and contact cleaner.
