Re: I am a beginner H1'er "NEED ADVICE"
Being a gasser truck it will be worth more to some, and less to others. So thats the first deciding factor on the truck. I've had two H1's that I have rolled over the 100K mark, and each time I have gone through what I affectionatly reffer to as: 100,000 mile hell.
The carrier bearing and U-joints should be replaecd
T-case probably could use an overhaul
brakes? If its a northern truck bet on the rear calipers needing to be replaced if they have not. And those calipers are NOT cheap.
On the diesels the harmonic balancers are shot at 100K, not sure about the gasser.
Does the truck have the upgraded HVAC? If not it will have to be replaced at some point, for the tune of about 2500 (in parts).
Shocks are probably bad
Front springs could be gone, espcially if it has a winch
Ball joints, tie rods, pitman, idler arms more then likely need to go
Control arm bushings can be a problem.
If it has CTIS and it leaks budget to repair whatever could be broken in it.
Tires? If those are bad plan on 1500.00 or so just for the rubber
Check the CV axle boots to make sure those are all OK.
Geared hub seals and bearings can start to be a problem at higher milege.
The list keeps going, I'm sure I'll think of more later. Is the truck for sale at dealer? If so that (should be) a good thing. IMO when buying a used H1 especially at higher milege budget over 5K to repair and bring it up to par (5K being in parts, if you dont wrench plan on more to cover labor). I had 8500.00 in to my last truck, and I dont even want to think about what I've got in the new one.
