Years ago we had a Sears Card which was segregated into two accounts for large and small purchases.

Those stupid f*cks almost never posted the payment to the right account, often doubling up one and lating the other.

The final straw happened when they added a service agreement to a big screen I'd bought without ever talking to me while the set was still under full warranty.

Paid off the accounts and only shop there for Craftsman tools now. After dealing with their mouth-breathing credit staff, I have no doubt about the claims made in the article.
