I read the entire manual on how to run the stupid defroster on my H2 and Concluded that GM forgot how to build the simple things. I leave the defroster on manual control, At a tolerable temperature, ALL THE TIME. I also keep the fan turned up so the air moves across the window better.
My problem spot is the passenger side wiper doesn't get enough air flow to keep the wiper from freezing. I think a beefy set of wiper blades will solve most of my problems though. Good luck and let us know what works. I like the handwarmer idea.
