Default climate control?

So took a trip yesterday and it was nice and cool in the morning so I hopped in the 2 and pressed the "fan speed" on the climate controlls up a couple notches. Just wanted the vent to run (nice and cool remember) because we all know what that running compresser does. I'm always set at 74 degrees. I assumed there was a "just vent" mode on these things but my compresser kept running. Note-- I was not in auto mode. So basically the only way to not run the compressor is to just turn the system totally off, right? Am I missing something? I just wan't to run the vent on a cool day not the dang A/C. Driving to Ouray Colorado next week for a trek and don't wan't it running all the way out there. $$$$$

If I remember correctly the early H-2's the ac symbol had A line through it, if yours has this line through the ac symbol that means when the button is illuminated it means ac is off. If no line is through the symbol when it is illuminated it is on. The compressor will also run when in defrost mode it does that to pull moisture out of the air to aid in defrosting.

You are correct. The 03's sre opposite as the later years. When the lite is on it means compressor off. thanks.
