Has anyone weighed their H3 yet? I took ours to the dump (to drop of trash of course ) and I was weighed on the way out at 5,200 lbs. Now, if you subtract me, that makes the car about 5,000lbs. Any comments?

This is a Lux Package with off-road suspension.

Interesting question. Seems like most of the automotive mags show well over 4900 pounds vs. the official weight at 4700 pounds.

Anybody else get weighed?

S.

Hahahaha! I don't think the H3 could handle a payload that large...

Well, first you have to consider if you had a full tank of gas. Gas weighs roughly 6 pounds per gallon, so however many gallons less than full you were times 6 would be subtracted.

Then you need to consider everything else. It's 4700lbs with an auto for the base. You start adding stuff to the truck and the weight goes up. If you've been in the mud, you could conceivably have 100lbs of dirt lodged up in the bottom. Any gear in the back? Brush guard, lights, blow up doll, etc.

I thought the curb weight included these things.

Wikipedia definition

I had a full tank so that was probably 20 gallons. 20x6=120lbs.
It hasn't been off-highway yet so maybe 20lbs for sand from this winter.
Then I have the off-highway suspension and RDiff 160lbs.
Brushguard 80lbs.
Sidesteps 60lbs.
5,000-120= 4880-20= 4860-160= 4700-80= 4620-60=4580.

I'm still confused the more I read the definition below. It seems curb weight should include all optional equipment and gas.

HUMMER.com-
"The actual or the manufacturer's estimated weight of the vehicle in operational status with all standard equipment, plus the weight of fuel at nominal tank capacity, plus the weight of optional equipment."

Nothing in the back I want to tell you about....
