Default Re: H3 winch mounts for sale

I have done a LOT of research and this mount is the BEST that I have seen. Having said that, I also have done a lot of research on Baseplates so that I can tow my 2008 H3X behind my motorhome. I have downloaded the instructions, as well as the pictorials, from Blue Ox and Roadmaster. These two vendors have 90% of the market. BOTH their design engineers have issues with the way that the recovery hooks are mounted and will NOT use the recovery hook bolts for towing. Remember, this is FREE WHEELING Towing...not snatching the H3 out of a snow bank or mud or whatever. I have also talked to the Engineers...

Blue Ox, at first glance, looks like they simply REMOVE the recovery hooks and use the bolts to mount their base plates. HOWEVER, they actually put reinforcments (on BOTH sides of the frame rail) and have a SECOND back-up plate attached to the frame rail. You mount the base plate using the factory bolts. HOWEVER, you then have a lock washer and additional nut that is attached to the bolts. THUS you have a MUCH stronger joint. I have looked (pictures and observations) at the flanges on the frame rails and the nuts....they are NOT that substantial.

My only suggestion is that you, or others, go to the Blue Ox site and look at the instructions for the 2008 base plates. That may be something that should be considered....and I KNOW that there are many fabricators out there that have installed home made mounts WITHOUT beefing up the flanges.

ALSO...have you considered making a Multi Mount (2") receiver bar for the H3. I have a Warn 8000 MM and love it...I
