Yeah, lcds aren't that great with fast movement. But like all the problems (ie: burn-in, motion, quality, life-span, viewing angles), they are being resolved as time progresses with both types.
IMO an average plasma would compare to a high end lcd. But it's all in what you look for in a TV I suppose. Like connections/inputs/style/size/etc... and what you will be using it for
