I know we are not suppose to promote "OTHER" web pages but i thought everyone would find this pretty funny.

This is something that the Sierra Club started a couple months ago with them ridiculing Ford on their 100th anniversary for not coming up with cars that "get better gas milage" than the Model T.
I actually wrote them back then about their claims and never got a reply back. To me, this is a good example of narrow mindedness. Not once do they take in account things like how many accessories are driven off a modern engine, the weight of a modern vehicle compared to the Model T, how far fewer pollutants are dumped into the atmosphere, etc…
They just focus on the statistics that further their cause. This seems to be an all too common thing these days. Unfortunately they get enough support from people who don’t really think outside the box. To me, if an organization can, and has the guts to, state both sides of an argument and still come up with good evidence to support their cause, that would give them more credibility.

Sorry for the rambling, but reading propaganda like that really irks me.

Just my take on things too.

Grendel:

Exactly, that's why I posted in the thread titled 'Sierra Club' on this forum. I also gave my reason why I feel they spew propaganda - offering the Webster's definition.

SJ -
I looked up your post. That was good!

If anyone likes what the Sierra Club is saying, you would probably like to know I just heard the other day that you are 9000 times more likely to be accidentally killed by a physician than a gun!

while this spoof shows part of the Club's political stand, their stance on RS2477 is even worse:

"Across the West, state and local governments are exploiting a loophole in a vague, long-repealed road statute to lay claim to thousands of miles throughout our public lands. This loophole allows special interests the opportunity to criss-cross America's National Parks, Wildlife Refuges, National Monuments, Wilderness Areas, and other special places with roads and development. The Sierra Club belongs to a coalition of groups that are working on ways to close this loophole.

BACKGROUND
The loophole called Revised Statute 2477 --RS 2477"

Without this revise statute there would be MANY trails closed in the Moab area. Because businesses there recognize the benefit of outdoor recreation including off-roading, the local county has used 2477 to keep the trails open. we traveled on one of these trails and the landscape was just incredible. just another example of a few trying to impact a person's freedom.
