Hi guys while I was changing the oil on my H2 I noticed the air bag pedestals had a lot of grime on them, even a few small stones. so I took out the o'l windex and washed them down while the suspension was hanging. cleaned all the crud off the bags as far up as I could reach. seems the right side had more on it cause its not gaurded from splash like the left side(fuel tank is in the way). anybody ever do this to keep them in good shape?

I never even thought of it...I wonder how bad mine are, and if it matters. Toss some armor all on there!

the one thing to consider while cleaning the bags. if its going to leave a residue DON"T use it! the bags should stay clean and dry, and not pick up any dirt.

Yeah, I was being a smart butt on the whole armor all. If anything I guess I would wipe them with water and a cloth.

Why, does your bag need cleaning? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

It can always use a touch up.

One piece of information. I haven't seen the airbag setup up close, so I'm not sure how its designed, but if there is nothing to stop the travel of the suspension at full droop, except the bags, for instance if the shock travel is longer than the bag travel, it can put a great deal of stress on the bags and I have seen them tear small holes, not large enough to see, but large enough to cause a leak, at the point where they mate to the top airbag plate.

Again, if there is something, like a shock or other component that keeps the suspension from hanging all its weight on the bags at full droop, then its a non-issue, but if not, try not to let all of that weight hang on the bags for an extended period of time, like overnight on jackstands. Short periods aren't bad. I used to take blocks or a jack and put under the tires to apply a little pressure/support, where the suspension could still droop if needed, but not have all of the weight hanging on the bags.
