The H2 is not a real Hummer...it's the ULTIMATE Hummer!
Do people realize the H1 is made from a compilalation of SEVERAL parts made by Ford, Chevy, Chysler and many many MANY other manufacturers? Does that make it any less real??
I'm involved in a club with plenty of H1's...and let me tell you from first-hand experience: these things have HUGE maintainance, regularly breakdown and suffer from poor engineering "like nothing else". Every event we run I have 4-6 guys with broken rigs. Half-shafts, u-joints, idlers arms, ball-joints, radiators, CTIS leaks, over-heating problems, etc, etc...
If you put your ear to one, you can almost hear the thing ticking....
Even brand spakin' new they have their issues. About the best thing that ever happened to Hummer was putting far more reliable, affordable, dependable and accessible GM parts in it. I've had mine for 2+ years and offroaded the heck out of it: it's been AWESOME!
Some of our parts came from the GM "parts basket".....newsflash: it's a good thing!
And those F-tards who'll tell you it's not a real Hummer: ask them why....they have no clue, they're just spouting crap predicated on nothing more then an intent to upset you and deal with their own insecurity knowing they'll never be able to afford either one!
I know very few drivers who can actually use their H1 to go places the H2 can't. The greater ability of the H1 comes into play infrequently. AND, sometimes it's the H2 that can do the job better, faster and easier then the H1:
Me and Horace (H2Finally) jammed through the Jonh Bull Trail easier and with less issue then the H1's. On Gold Mountain...we waited 15 minutes for them to catch up...and all the while we enjoyed a functional air conditioning, a great stereo and a far more comfortable ride.
Yeah, the H1 can out-do the H2 in some situations...but 99% of the time & mileage the H2 delivers more. I'm not willing to give up all that comfort, reliability and versatility for those super-infrequent times when the H1 could do it better.
Every vehicle has its pro's & con's, even the Suzuki Samarui can do things the Hummers can't and vice-versa. It's an un-even field.
Bottom line, when you compare features, value, reliability, versatility and all-around capability...the H2 delivers HUGE. As far as what I want from a vehicle...it categorically blows away ALL the competition, and since I bought it for me (and not the guy flippin' the burgers or working the french-fry machine)...that's all that matters!
I rest my case, if that doesn't work, bite me!

How you can say that a chevy tahoe is more of a hummer than an H1 is beyond me.
It does illustrate the mentality that you guys seem to have though....which is an absolute lack of any automotive knowledge in general. Otherwise you wouldn't have bought an overpriced tahoe.

Beastmaster, don't mind Steve, he is a goad and it is not directed at H1 owners.

Acutally, I know it's not aimed at H1 owners. I'm just curious what brought it on.
I know that trolls invade boards and mailing lists of all sorts, so I'm figuring that's the likely reason.

Enitrely & exclusively aimed at those who would say "The H2 is not a real Hummer" and put it down based on it's having GM parts...
Not H1 owners, unless they have a sticker on their bumper or attitude against the H2.
Inspiraiton was the recent troll attack and an inability to fall asleep...coupled with an urge to write something.

I for one priced out New Burbs. The one reason I went to the H2 was price...its a mear $3000 difference between the two.

I have to agree with Yetti, a H2 isn't much more in cost than a fully loaded suburban/Denali. With almost 33K trouble free miles, my H2 has served it's purpose well. And to use the argument that an H2 is a GM vehicle is stupid... look at DailmerChrysler, Ford/Jaguar/etc, parts-platforms-etc are cross engineered for more products at affordable prices....I think the consumer wins (most of the time).
