Great pic! How where the new tires in the snow?

I didn't air them down, but they didn't slip at all. I also went through some slickety mud, and they seemed to do well there too. Can't wait to do something a little harder.

Did you encounter any baddies while out there?

Unfortunately, no.
It would definitely put the hurt on any though.
I shot that thing (M1A w/ Sage Int'l EBR setup) for the first time on Saturday. OMFG! In the prone position using the bipod, partly due to the weight of the setup and the good compensator, you can empty a 20 round magazine of 7.62 ammo in 3 to 4 seconds. (The 30 round mag pictured sucks and is just for show (hopefully someone will build a decent one)) Seriously, it sounds like a 60. If a criminal broke through my front door, he probably wouldn't feel a thing after the first 7 or 8 rounds.

Gun and Tires are Badarse! Have you tested the tires on rocks yet? I am thinking about getting a set of mud/trail tires for my other set of wheels and agree about the french thing, but at the same time the AT's are so damn good, I'm hard pressed to find something even comparable (except for muddy conditions that is).

If he hasn't tested them on rocks, he will soon enough.

Can I get a gun like that? My neighbor's cat pisses me off and I want to kill it before they move.

The Coopers did seem to do very well, but I didn't even air down. Some of the trail was rocky, but there weren't any real obstacles. They were very grippy on the wet/snowy inclined rock surfaces. However, on the stuff I was on, the ATs probably would have been just as good. Another trail, Dictum Ridge, loops around to the trail I did - Second Mountain. It has ths pictured obstacle. I hope to do that one soon, and will let you know. The main reason I got the mud terrain-type tires was in case I ever get a chance to play on some jagged rocks. Maybe at Paragon.

It might be a little overkill for domestic felines, but:

I've been looking/wanting for something in a semi config that would be a good short mid accurate rifle. I like the AR10s that are coming, not the ones that are out breaking bolts and having headspace problems.

The SASS from Knight, etc. A friend keeps telling me I need to do a FAL and the DSA is a pretty good rifle.

I am a little sorry to say that I didn't know that variant you have there existed. I really like the idea of a modernized M1, pretty damn cool.

I'm probably in the minority, but I'd only want an AR10 if it had the forward assist. Just my $0.02. I hear the FALs are good.

I also hear the EBRs fit nicely on the 16" SOCOM and the 18" Scout versions. The EBR stock has a fre-floating barrel. I didn't get to check it for accuracy, but it supposedly will do a MOA or less. Here a photo of the Scout/EBR combo:

BTW: My excursions in the national forests have been largely to find good camping/hunting spots. I'm going to hunt deer with the M1A in the fall. Seriously. Perhaps only with a 5-round mag.

It looks like a M-14 and SPAS-12's love child. I love it!

There are so many people doing them and some ARE doing them with FA but, I don't think they have the gas tube configuration figured out just right either.

I want that AR10 platform due to the same reason I like that monster you have. There is some interchangability. Plus it's what I am used to, I guess.

Yeah, I like the AR platform a lot, and it's what I'm used to as well. The only drawback I don't like is the fact that the gas shoots back into the bolt/carrier area and makes it a b!tch to clean.
