Published on: 12/29/07
GRIFFIN, Ga. — Four people were killed and two people were injured on Friday after the driver of a truck was driving in the mud and struck two trees.
Two people survived the crash, which authorities said was a result of alcohol and reckless driving. Georgia State Patrol Trooper J.T. McMillan said the vehicle, a Ford Bronco, burned completely.
The names of the victims are not being released, but include the driver, a 24-year-old woman, a 36-year-old woman, a 2-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl. The children were riding in the back seat of the vehicle.
A 36-year-old woman and a 4-year-old boy were expected to be taken to Atlanta Medical Center.
McMillan said the truck was likely traveling at about 70 mph at impact and that no one was wearing seat belts.

Re: Four killed in mud-bogging accident
I am sad that it happened, but in the end it will used againest the 4x4 community. the treehuggers will disregaurd the drunkdriving and reckless parts and just say its how whole of the community looks and we are just waiting to die...and they need to save us from our selves.

If you click the link withen the story it takes you to another version of it. seems the Mudbogg'n was more like Muddy road, and lost control in the rain soaked road. funny how other report doesn't mention that.

4 Dead, 2 Hurt 'Mud-Bogging' in Ga.
GRIFFIN, Ga. — A sport utility vehicle speeding down a muddy road slammed into trees and exploded, killing four people, including two children, and injuring two others, authorities said.
Investigators believe alcohol, recent rain and reckless driving may have been factors in Friday night's crash of the Ford Bronco, which burned completely, state Trooper J.T. McMillan said.
"They were out there, playing around, mud-bogging on the dirt road," McMillan said. "They got stuck in the dirt and were pulled out by a dump truck. They sped off down the road and the driver struck two trees."
The SUV was traveling around 70 mph at impact, and the occupants weren't wearing seat belts, he said.
The Georgia State Patrol had not released the victims' names but identified them as a 24-year-old woman who was driving, a 36-year-old woman, a 2-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl. The children were riding in the back seat.
A 36-year-old woman was being treated at the Atlanta Medical Center, but her condition was not available Saturday. A 4-year-old boy also survived the crash with only scratches.
Neither is believed to have life-threatening injuries.
Griffin is about 37 miles south of Atlanta.

The second report just came out. Notice the date and time of release:
December 29, 2007 - 2:07 p.m. EST
Maybe they got more information from one of the survivors since the first report.
