As promised, here are a few pics of my trip to the OBX (that's the Outer Banks of NC for those who don't know).

Standing on top of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse looking at the point of Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

Pic of the lighthouse we were just on.

Out on the beach. The sand isn't as soft as I remembered. I was somewhat dissapointed.

My new desktop background.

Pic at Oregon Inlet, NC. The sand was a bit softer here , but the tide was high and some areas were impassible

Another pic at the Inlet.

Despite bad timing on the tide, it was a good trip. I was hoping for a little more challenging terrain, but that's OK. For those who were inquiring about the OBX, I would suggest you take a pocket full of money when visiting. The place is nothing but a tourist catered island. Very beautiful beaches and scenery.

Looks like a great time.

Can you believe they moved that lighthouse all the way back there. Gang, that thing sat right at the edge of the waves.

Yea Ken that was one hell of a move. I would guess they moved it a 1/4 mile or more. You can still ride out to the site where it used to be, but I didn't. They have just re-opened it for the public after needed renovations within the last month or so.

Thanks for the pics!!!

It brought back some good memories. It is sort of a shame how tourist oriented it is- but I guess they need thier revenue from somewhere. Did you find Blackbeard's treasure?

I never tried looking for it. I think it's all just a hoax anyway.

I hope not, Santa gave me a sweet sand shovel for Christmas and I don't want to waste my time.

When I was a little girl, my family went to Ocracoke Island every summer and I used to dig for that thing all day!

Nice pics. I'm leaving Saturday for the Outer Banks. We stay in the 4WD area up in Carova beach which is almost at the VA state line. We stayed up there last year and had a blast. Taking the H2 again but I can tell you driving in soft sand during high tide is a little tricky with that stupid traction control. I'll be sure to take some pics also.

OK, I've been playing with photoshop and decided to make another wallpaper collage from four of the pics I just posted. Check it out and tell me what you think.
It was designed for a 1024x768 resolution (my lappy), so I don't want to hear any bitching about how big it is. I will probably do another at 1600x1200 for my desktop.

Edit: This was a quick upsize so here's the 1600x1200 version for those who give a rat's ass and have a monitor that can support that resolution. (It's about a 1.38M file)http://alldunn.dyndns.org/OBXpics/H2background16x12.jpg
