Default My shifter is loose

All of a sudden there is a lot of play in my transmission shifter and you can see it twist at the base. If you hold it by the top on the driver's side there is 1" of play. Is this easy to fix?

Is it possible that the setscrew on the shifter handle is loose?
It is on the side facing the dash and has to be loosened to remove the shifter handle.
If not you can loosen it with an allen wrench and take it off to lift up the shifter cover and drink holder to see if something is broke or came loose underneath.
It has been a while since I had mine apart to remember what I did but I know there are clips under the drink holder that hold it in place and there are wires that feed the 2 lights on the shifter indicator to show what gear it is in on the console.
