Default 37" BFG Y'all Terrains

I am thinking about getting a set of 37x12.50x17 BFG All terrains. It looks like it will be about $1,300.00 out the doorfor 4.
Is the extra 1.8 in worth it? the dia of the stock is 34.5 vs 36.3 for the "37's" per BFG website. (It = > 1" added Ground Clearance)

Can I use the stock spare as long as I put it on the front or dont use the locker? Or should I quit being cheap and get 5 tires?

Does anyone on here run the 37" AT's?

Will they balance out as nice as the 35's do?

I like the thread title -- "Mall Terrains".

I just tested by 37s and that couple of inches makes a big difference (for Procomp MTs which translated to exactly 36.9 inches). I banged rather reguarly on my custom skid plate with worn down 35s. Now I hardly touch at all. The ride is also smoother since you have more cushion in the tires. I'm a 37 convert and will NOT go back to 35s for sure.

The stock spare will be fine to get you off the trail and to a fix it place. You probably don't want ride with the smaller tire for an extended period of time.

If you get the larger tires - a MUST is the Rancho steering stablizer which runs around $50. I'd also upgrade to Fabtech DH tierods too.

Alan, since you are offroading, that extra inch or so will help for sure. It also fills in those wheelwells better. If you don't plan to rotate in your 5th tire and use it for emergency situations only, leave the stock one on. If you plan to rotate it in or have the possibility of driving three or four hours on the highway to get somehwere, get the 5th. BTW- where's that Gobi rack you were talking about.

I was told by my family members to quit buying everything on impulse so they could buy me something for X-Mas. So I'll probably order it sometime in November!

I changed the tie rods & stabilizer. Have Rubber Duck ucp, but the tires were obviously the best improvement. I have made several trips of over 4000 miles with some off-roading thrown in.

The best thing for the most improvement. And they look great!

I have the 37" BFG All-Terrains and I love em. Mine are 37x12.50-20 though and the balanced up real nice. I haven't had em off road yet but I have the sneaking suspicion they would perform very muck like the stock ones

I have them! The BFG MTs have been great tires the last 27K miles but it will be time for new ones soon.

They balanced quite easily (compared to other 37s).

I would buy them again! I ran them on a previous vehicle with good results.

I may try the Toyos in 37X13.50 and do some trimming.

I have driven them on 2 separate trips of almost 5000 miles each. Both times we took a detour for some off-roading. On Friday, we leave from NY to go to Moab and then the Rubicon. This trip will be over 8000 miles before we get back in 6 weeks. I don't anticipate any problems with them. I run them at 40 lbs. Makes steering them on the street easier. Off-road, I drop them to 20.

OOPS. Just noticed you are talking about AT's. Mine are MT's. Nevermind.

I got five 37" Cooper STTs for $1,200.
Best tire I have ever owned. 84 lbs of rubber apiece. Accidentally had them as low as 14 psi off road for 2 whole days with no separation. Grip like glue and drive great on the hwy at 50 psi.

Cool. That might be an alternative since 5 are cheaper than 4 Mall Terrains. I belive Lotus4 had those on his H3 at Tellico...Please chime in Lotus If I'm right!

Are the comparable to stock on the highway?
