Default Nerf bars saved me again

For the second time I was hit and the nerf bars saved me. The first time a guy eased into my lane and his tire rubbed the passenger side. It was on a friday night and he took off. I think he must have been drunk and did not want any police action. I pulled off and looked at the side thinking I had body damage but there was just a black mark that rubbed off with my finger. The second time a lady wanted to be in the same lane I was in. I was turning left and she tried to come into my lane. This time it was a harder hit. Thinking again I had body damage. To my suprise, the nerf bar took the hit. No body damage, just a chewed up nerf bar from here wheel and slightly bend nerf supports. I had been thinking about getting u-steps but now, no way. I am in the process of blacking out my chrome and will just replace the chrome nerf bars with black ones. Has anyone else had this experience?

Modify them so that they have little sharp points along the edge so they shred tires and tear sheet metal!

I had a woman come over on me a couple of years back, there was construction and the lane merged... her rear door was even with my right hand front wheel. She signaled (which I could not see given her position), didnt even look and moved over. She hit my front tire which simply rubbed off my tire shine but her very new looking Acura RL didnt come out so well, I crunched her door and quarter panel pretty good.

She was eastern european and spoke very broken english but basically told me it was my fault since she signaled...... I told her here in the U.S. you dont get the right away because you simply put on your blinker and then proceeded to tell her if I was on my motorcycle she could have killed me. She still maintained she did nothing wrong..... after calling her some colorful adjectives I said "OK... lets call the cops and see what they think" she said no thats ok and took off.

This is the main reason, I have been told, to get nerf bars. This and to avoid door dings.

Great stories.

I don't know about the nerf bars...but my BFG MTs saved me once. I had a guy in a Corolla (it's always a Toyota) ease into my lane and rub up against me. No damage on my end, but a nice BIG 37 inch dent in his back passenger door. I don't even think his door would open...HA!

with all the idiot drivers here in Minnesota, im suprised i have not had an issue yet.

i think my experience might be different as i am using the NFAB nerf bars. so not as much side coverage as the standard ones.
