Smile Suggestion on Ski/Snowboard racks?

Hello all.....I am looking to get a ski/snowboard rack in the next week or so. I do not have the roof cross bars on my H3...so I would need to get the full kit. Any suggestions on what people are using?
Thanks!

I would get the Thule 6 ski carrier. You can put 4 boards up there with mindings and 6 with 2 sandwhiched between them. I have the Thule bars up there as well. The giant full length boxes are nice too. THat is where I keep all the camping gear or boots when I take 4-5 people snowboarding.

Check out my site for pics of the 3.

Thule rules.

I see that you are in NJ. Go to Pelican Ski Shop in Morris Plains and tell them that Garner sent you. When they stop laughing they might give you a deal.

I got the Roof Racks from G-Style, they look just like the factory roof racks, and their about half the price, here's a link on ebay for those:

For my snowboard racks, I went with the Big Powderhound from Yakima, I went with these over the factory ones because their universal, I've used them on my truck and a friends Tahoe. Search around, i got these for about 100 with shipping. Here's a link:

Help this helps, good luck

I've had both Yakima and Thule.
The Yakima last longer!

Are the Yakima mounts compatible with the roof racks for Hummer?

Yes, their compatible with almost every factory roof rack. I called Yakima directly just to make sure they fit for a Hummer H3 before ordering. I have them on my H3 and they work great.

I use the factory bars, got them on Ebay, with a Thule Evolution 1600. The 1600 is a perfect fit. fits right behind sunroof so you dont see it or lose the view. A box is far better than a rack. Getting up to the mountain only to find all of your stuff covered in salt and sand sucks. You can also throw muddy boots and crap in the box on the way home...

I have used Yakima for years. I bought a box for the H3 and it fits great on the factory bars but the load rating is higher if you get the Yakima Bars. My 175 cm snowboard fits inside and it keeps the road grime off my stuff. I also use it for camping gear, luggage, golf clubs etc. the box I got...see signature...allows me to see out the sunroof perfectly.

4 different Yakima set ups over the years.....works great and warratny work is fast...made in Washington state.
