Because I've in the process of ordering a bunch of new stuff for my H2, I'm not too interested in spending $800, 900, 1000, or up for a roof rack for my H2. From another thread on roof baskets I ran across this guy who sells racks on ebay. Here's an example listing:
Steel Roof Rack by Blackout

He quoted me $530 for a 52" x 72" x 6" rack, including shipping. Anything larger bumps up into considerably higher price territory. That size is sufficient for my needs, but I'm wondering if it'll look okay being narrower than the pricier models.

Does anyone have pictures of an H2 with a rack that's only 52" wide?

Has anyone seen such a rack and have an opinion?

I know it's a pretty subjective thing. Personally, I don't really like the look of the racks that are as wide as the truck as it seems to make the truck look top heavy.

I like his description:

Ree,

Did your price include painting? Also, I've emailed him but was wondering if you talked about a sunroof cutout?

Thanks...

I mentioned a sunroof cutout, but have not received a reply. The dimensions I emailed him for what I'm looking for are 108"x68"x4". The one shown in the pictures on the listing is 108" X 72" X 6" for $975.00 + shipping. Well, that's what I was quoted.

No. The price was without paint. Also, I have no sunroof. So I didn't even consider that.

I still wonder if 72" x 52" would look decent. I've looked all over my place for material that matches these dimensions to get an idea of how it would look and can't find anything that'll work. But I have an idea.

Does anyone have a Double/Full mattress that they can toss up top and snap a picture of? I think these ara about 72" x 54", close enough the rack size to give me an idea of the look. It would be hugely appreciated (I'd do it myself , but I only have a queen and a king...I'm not that lazy).

I am that lazy (especially for someone I don’t know on the interweb)

Lets see, take off all the linen, haul it outside, persuade the wife to help hoist it on top of the truck, snap some pics, take it down, haul it inside, remake the bed, upload the pics.

LOL, most days I am too lazy to remake the bed the sleep on </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Darn, you make it sound as hard as it actually is. Not only am I lazy, I sugar coat, make up excuses, and ask others to do the work. So I guess I'm even lazier :-)

Still, if there's some wonderful, ambitious person out there that'd do this horrible, back breaking task, I'd appreciate it. Maybe a neighbor has a double they wouldn't mind lending me.

No, to save money for better beer and wine.

I'm just looking for something functional. Frankly, I haven't yet warmed to the look of the Gobi although I wouldn't mind winning one Sure this rack isn't a work of art, but it'll probably get the job done at a good cost.
