Default Timing Chain

I have a 2003 H2. A friend had a timing chain on a 2005 PT Cruiser break at 100K miles, destroying a valve. He had to junk the car as it was too expensive to fix.

My H2 has 100400 miles. Should I replace the timing chain? Thanks for your help.

Default Re: Timing Chain

Chains with steel gears dont have to be replaced at 100K like the cheap cars with plastic gears do

PT Cruiser has a timing belt which is a maintenance item at 100000km, chains are not a maintenance item

Thanks. I did not know PT Cruiser had plastic gears or that H2 has steel.
