can i just bring a 2003 H2 without an external tire carrier to the dealer and buy it and pay to have it installed?

is this something they do and if so how much does it cost?

Thats not a hard thing to install and I would consider a mechanically inclined person to install it for you if your not up to the task. Aftermarket and dealers just dont mix. you just end up loosing; Unless he is your friend.

you can take it to a dealer, keep in mind though, that most of the carriers were built by SMA (now out of business)...so availability may be limited..

aloha...i have an 2006 H2 with the spare tire carrier in the back. i ended up taking it out coz i like the look without the spare tire carrier. i mounted the rear license plate in the back where it's supposed to be. also not thinking of putting rear tow hooks coz i don't really need it. here is a pic without it.

our dealer put an aftermarket carrier on ours. i would recommend it because they needed a special torque wrench or something like that.

I have installed 3 SMA tire carriers now. One on mine and the other 2 on friends. They are a piece of cake to install with 2 people and I did mine solo. Only thing I had to buy was a torque wrench and threader(I forget the size)

There's a guy selling the SMA carriers for 329 brand new on Ebay. I think he has 4 left.
