:) On the road right now headed north to Redding to stay overnight. And then home! Sorry, no pics to load yet. We're somewhere on I-5 in California. Had a blast! Thanks to all the great spotters and rock stackers! :jump:

Just checked, my buddy's camera uses compact flash, and I only have an SD slot on the laptop...too bad! :) I'm sure someone else will be posting soon, considering I'll probably be one of the last to get home....Of course I won't be traveling as far as Shaggy or OldHiker! But, again we had a great time! :perfect10s:

Here's the first batch of the pictures I have. I wish I'd taken more of the "action shots", but I was usually busy stacking or spotting or just too friggin' tired.

Gatekeeper.

The rig on the right is my buddy's incredible rock rig. He drove bacvk from Spider to Loon in 32 minutes.:perfect10s:

The red rig crapped out an input shaft in the Little Sluice at about midnight on Friday. I almost broke my elbow when I rode shotgun through the Box in my buddy's rig.

Same spot, Finally's rig. The challenge is to get your passenger side front tire up the wall high enough to keep your driver's door off the knife edge that sticks out. There's plenty of paint and metal on that rock.

Squeezing over.

DRTYFN

DRTYFN

Doc on a much higher line, but with more tippy action. Had to back up and realign himself.

DRTYFN
10-10-2006, 05:55 PM
The Squeeze part of Walker. This was before the massive stacking project took place. I had maybe a 1/4" squeeze here. It brought the suck.

Just a side note, the Gatekeeper is the first obstacle that you come to at the start. If you cannot get through this, turn back. After several hours we were all through.

Now the fun begins.

Not to be nit picky or anything, but it was the Big Sluice that was the hell run. :) Old Sluice was between Little Sluice and Buck Island dam... ;) Big Sluice was after the pass and before the Bridge over the rubicon river... :twak::D

I've been spending the whole day with my mind running around trying to sort out the whole Rubicon trip. It went so fast, and was such a blur, I figured I'd use the keyboard to help me out. :D I still can't believe it took 3 days to run it, and looking back, it would have been nice if we had planned for 4 days, maybe it would have helped us all soak it in better (of course, just my opinion. I think we left the hotel in Auburn at about 6:30/7am and arrived at the gas station in Georgetown so everyone could fill up and empty their bladders... :) We drove the windy two-lane highway around until we hit Loon Lake and then the trail head. Bebe's was nice enough to distribute the wag bags and also oil spill kits and flares...all located in a little shack at the trail head. After everyone aired down, we headed off...of course, with Drty in the lead. :) After running through gatekeeper on my stock tires at 20psi, Bebe's recommended that I drop to 18psi. Definately a BIG difference, the tires gripped a lot better at 18psi. Thanks Bebe's!!!
Gatekeeper was a blast, and I felt that it wasn't really all that bad. I think Drty's buddy showed up around that time with his built-up rig...that was sweet! We then hit the granite slabs/bowl which really reminded me of moab. Just big slabs of rocks and steps to climb up...Drty graciously did some "trail clean-up" while traveling the trail. :) After the slabs, some moderate obstacles, and then Walker Hill. Walker Hill/Rock was a more difficult obstacle...if I remember correctly. That included the big squeeze, and Sewie took some damage to his front passenger door after picking a bad line. :) On that same hill, we already had another group catching up to us, and as we were navigating the hill...there were a lot of pics and video taken by the onlookers. I think a lot of them couldn't believe that we were all actually on the trail... After finishing that, we setup camp right before the Little Sluice and Spider Lake at about 6-7pm. Is that about right for the first day? Rox made some GREAT kebabs! and Finally's wife had some GREAT asian salad! Thanks again for the great food ladies!

IMO, there isn't a tougher, more capable tire for this kind of wheeling. My wheels took some abuse, but not as much as I thought they would. Wheel protectors are on the list of things to make.

DRTYFN

Barely even a mark on the tires. After watching my tires grind around & off of all the rocks I was sure there'd be some kind of tears on the sidewalls.

See, now you all come to Colorado.......

In a 4 day period of time we could hit up:

Wheeler Lake
Bill Moore Lake
Mill Creek
Cascade Creek
Spring Creek
Red Cone
Twin Cone
Radical Hill
Webster Pass
Red Elephant Hill
Jenny Creek

and then we could trek down to Buena Vista and run that trail system...

Until then I'll just wish I had been able to join you all in Cali...

Latest update. Still in Reno with no loaner, rental or my truck. And I'm not even getting kissed.

Now this fukin dealer called WinkleDinkle is giving it to me good. I pulled in for them to check it out on Tuesday morning. Seems it felt like it was in 4 wheel hi locked as I stated before. So what do they find?

1. My Fabtech tie rods are worn out? What wears on the tie rods?
2. Idler worn
3. Pittman arm worn
4. Ball joint worn
5. Building a case for why the Fabtech are to blame and NOT covered under the GMPP.
6. Something is keeping the transfer case locked. Have yet to diagnose this. The original problem.

Now I have to wait for GMPP to send an adjuster - 24-48 hours. They approved a 48 hour rental, but Enterprise is out of cars!!!!

Spoke to Hummer direct.:crying: Not much help. Switched me to GMPP. Again, not much help.:crying:

Mona is doing better, now that BeBe brought her the charger.

But I'm about to kill someone, probably the service manager at Dinkles. The mechanic looked at it yesterday for about an hour. First thing he finds is the tie rods. Give me a break. Today he was pulled off it to do a radio install. Are their priorities screwed up? A little courtesy and compassion for a traveler. NFW! How many nice things can I say about these Dinkles - none. I hope they are following this. I am just getting started. I hope all locals switch to a more experienced dealer. If not, I feel your pain.

More to come tomorrow.
