It's alright. We did some beginner trails today. Long will little spotting action- some fun whoopty doo hills on the dirt road leading to the park. Checking things out.

The trails we went on today are supposedly the narrowest (I don't know if that is a word, I'm tired) and we had plenty o room. Very long though, hopefully the ones we try tomorrow will be short with a lot of action (grudge trails http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gifhttp://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) It is very pretty wheeling in amidst the blue rrrrrridges.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

AlanSut had some fun with vise grips.

KenP
03-12-2006, 05:50 AM
That was to hold air in. His bead popped on one tire and this one, the spare, lost the valve.

A little vise and some tape worked things out until he could get down and put another spare on.

Doubt it, but this was our first and last time. No consistency in direction. meeting jeepers coming the other way on a one way trail brings teh suck. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif Especially when you have to back down the hill about 1000 ft.

Saturday was stupid busy. That 5 ton was actually going up the TWO way trail many of those pics came from. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

It was Clean Up Day and there were a couple of clubs there, plus our trucks. It sucked.

Today was much better. We didn't enounter any cross grain traffic and actually met up with a Yota guy that had been looking for us to wheel with. He'd we were there from Pirate.

Pics to come, including night pics. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

HummerNewbie
03-13-2006, 05:33 AM
Saturday absolutely sucked because of the traffic and the fact that the narrow trails were two way. Between going up the trail, then backing down due to either the five ton coming down (ask CP about only being able to see his grill while she backed down http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) or other broken down rigs, we travels that trail several times Saturday and didn't even cover two miles. As mentioned before, we were told this is the busiest weekend of the year. Pretty much all of us had decided we would never come back to Tellico, until today. We were not ever going to run any trails but end up having an great day. Most leave here on Sunday by noon so if we ever come back we are arriving on Saturday and wheeling Sunday/Monday.

Not a great pic but just to show that we finished well after dark tonight.

Everybody did great. Was very impressed with HIHUMMER and newb, they represented the H3's very nicely and impressed quite a few folks that gathered to watch.

Pretty much everybody walked away with some kind of damage, that means it was good fun.

Contrary to popular belief, I didnt "Set you up". I broke a center pin on my spring friday and had to do a little trail fix. I bent it late friday night again and decided to swap a new one in Saturday morning. So I missed you guys. Sorry. There isnt exactly cell phone service up there. When we spoke friday evening I said we would go up 6 and down 5. You guys agreed since some of you didnt have lockers. I knew 5 would be a zoo first thing in the morning. Sorry you guys had a long day on 5, the gravel truck ****ed a lot of things up.

I rolled out of camp at noon on Saturday, ran schoolbus, helicopter pad, Guardrail, and slickrock. Im glad you didnt do to much damage and all drove home OK. The pics looked good and I must say Im impressed with what you got your rigs through. Next time Im up north, Ill try and get to Paragon with you guys.

So, I set you up by telling you to take 6-4-5 on saturday. You dont, and Im the ass? I knew there was no where to pull off on 5 so it would have been better to hit it at the end of the day. A set up would be pushing you into upper 2 or schoolbus and getting you guys in over your heads and past your vehicles capabilities, leading to heavy body and chassis damage.

Yes I missed you guys saturday morning to fix a minor breakage on a rig that I had just finished at 1am friday morning so I could ride with you guys. I didnt get owned, I broke it, fixed it, and kept wheeling all day saturday and still drove it home sunday.

It wasn't our fault that trail was backed up, no matter what those guys say. Heck, we went UP that trail, not down. Up is more difficult.

The 5ton driver was helping push everyone aside because he needed to get another load of rock up the hill. When we went by, the trail drained down and he came up. We waited, again, for him and then proceeded down.

Maybe I misread something there, JT. I'm going to give you the benefit of doubt for now. But those a-holes on Pirate need to know what happened. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif Maybe you can straighten them out for us.

I am going to see what I can do. Got a friend that wants to go and he is off work June/July so that is probably when it would be. We would go up and see some friends in SC, hook up with HI and head to Paragon. Really hope to see you there.

Im glad you guys had fun Sunday and got to ride a good bit. I was very impressed with how you guys and girls ran those big ass rigs up there.

If you Search on the PBB, you will see that I post every trip I take on the forum, it wasnt anything special for you guys.

And as for where that guy got the body damage count, I have no idea... I didnt get to see your rigs till I looked at the pics you posted. So, exactly where did you tell us it was cleanup weekend and would be the busiest weekend Tellico has and where did you give us any kind of details about the trails in the WEEKS leading up to the ride in the PMs.

You punked out and tried to nominate yourself trail boss and couldn't even make it to the damn trails because you were not, even in the least, trying to help us out to make a good ride for several that were first timers. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I just finished batch processing all the pics to reduce them for posting. They will be much faster to post now. Will try to get some up this afternoon. Based on what I have seen, I still think we are missing a lot of shots. Ken, remember when I hung the right rear Mrs.sippi hollered out that she got it? I don't see it in the folder of their pics among others.

That was an awsome trip after all. I guess I missed the drama with JT, but was happy that you guys met the ultra cool toyo guys to lead us on Sat.

Total carnage report for my truck:

Broken rear sway bar link, flattened valve stem, broken tire bead, two dents on rear driver side door (matches paragons almost perfectly) And dent caused by 6x6 gravel truck.
I drove back towing 7500 LBS perfectly and am very happy with how the h2's and h3's did.

Boss Hoss, unless I missed something, you had no damage?? Impressive.....Maybee I'll add some bling so I will have the same results!

Three words....BLING BLING BISHES!!!

Alan i think you are right...no major damage but i still have yet to take my skins off--few scrapes on my rims but no big deal.

It was great meeting everyone and we want to thank everyone for their hospitality. We highly enjoyed both the company and the wheeling.

Here is my summary of the trip:
FRIDAY--didnt really know the park that well, tackled trail 4. Nice and relaxing but nothing tough. It was nice just being out in the mountains with the beautiful scenary and fantastic weather.

SATURDAY--sucked--the biggest cleanup day of the year. 150 trucks signed up just for the cleanup not to mention our trucks and many others that thought they were going to wheel on the 8 trails. Too many trucks, not enough trail.

SUNDAY--rocked! Great trail ride, some good compromising obstacles and lots of fun. Wheeled from aroun noonish till 8or9 that night--awesome day of wheeling.

FUTURE ADVICE-get a good day of wheeling in on Friday as there werent that many trucks on the trails then. Spend Saturday spectating at the lower 2 and wheel all day Sunday. That trip would be freaking awesome.

Nah, not me the truck. I was in a situation several time where it felt squirly. When i say squirly i mean SOME body damage may happen. I never felt like my truck would have any problem with any obstacle...it just felt so easy. Id like to know about the Hummer deal you were talking about--not the Happening but rather the private land leased to Hummer.

Hi There.....

I hope that you all had a good time while you were at Tellico. Iam the guy in the red Off Camber shirt running around directing traffic on the hill. Sorry about the delays on the trail. Its normally not that bad. You did happen to come on the 2nd buisiest day of the year. Just to let you that Dixie Run is the most popular and that will happen in September. You might want to look at www.sfwda.org (http://www.sfwda.org) for more information like trail maps and events that are going to be large in that area.

Just wanted to thank Ken and Paragon for stopping by our forum and having a chat. We get a kick out of everyone wheeling those beasts. I thought it was great to see you all out there. If you need someone to show you around more trails in the south east let me or our club know and I will make arangments to show you all around.

For the newbies out on the first attempt at wheeling don't let what you saw on the trails stop you from coming back. We hope that we can get our club and a few of you with us to take you to the trails and show you around.

Thanks
