Hey Jason,
I don't know if this has been brought up before. I was thinking maybe we could do some Vinyl Logos (THE H2 SOURCE logo)from this site to place on our H2's back window or back side windows and make them only available to registered members. That way when we see a logo we know they are from the forum? Just an idea anyone else think this would be a good idea?

I would love to do that!
However I was previously contacted by GM/Hummer when I had the old store open (t-shirts, mugs, etc with the H2 Source Logo on them). They made me shut down the store becuase I was making money off their trademarks. Granted, I did make about $1-2/per item, just wanted you all to have the ability to get a shirt if you wanted.
I wonder if it would be ok to give out a sticker to those who "make a donation" to the site????
Anyone out there who can make vinyl stickers, send me an email?
Thanks for the idea.

Hey there guys,
I think the stickers would be a great idea, and maybe to take it a step further and have them done in a few of the factory colors like, white, orange, maroon, peweter and yellow. I would check with Fastsigns or any other vinyl sign shop. If you would like me to check into it, I can run with it. Just didn't want to step over my bounds as a fairly new member. Jason if you want to contact me directly you can email me.

I think a white vinyl logo sticker on my back window right next to my white "Pink Floyd" stick would finish my black and white look.

Jason,
I think it would be fine as you could give these to your members and you would not be charging for these stickers, so GM couldn't say you were making money and those that you give the stickers to, you can ask for a small donation to help the website. I think most of us being H2 owners are good for a donation to come to a awesome site like this. Keep Us Posted.

Hey Guys,
Just for some info I called the guy that does a lot of tinting for me and he can certainly make the stickers. I actually gave him a dimmension of 4" h X 6"L, and told him we would want a few different colors, and he said the cost may be $4 each if there were not many ordered, and the cost would go down as the quantity rose. They could be done in a mater of 3 or 4 days, if he is given the art. The only thing that would need to be chosen are the exact colors of the vinyl, which I could certainly do.

Now why does this not surprise me that GM/Hummer would do something like this to the "little guy" http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
I imagine that GM/Hummer didn't want anyone using their letter/number combination of "H2"? Sort of reminds me of when Kenny G filed suit against Garth Brooks because Garth Brooks was using the letter "g" in his logo http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Kevin,
I too called Fast Signs and they will be supplying a quote to me. If you do not mind, I would prefer to take care of it, if I get quoted a similar price.
On the other hand, if I could "give" the business to a forum member, I am all for that!
Big-C, expect an email from me soon.
Will keep you all posted.

To make a long story short, changing the logo by 10% wouldn't be infringing.

JASON, GREAT IDEA!
HOW DIFFICULT OR EXPENSIVE WOULD IT BE IF WE WOULD SOMEHOW ADD EACH TRUCK'S SCREEN-NAME ON EACH LABEL?
THIS WAY IT WOULD BE COOL TO SEE WHO YOU ARE.

Can we make the "H2" look like the real font!
Hummer Man, I have seen stickers with 3D images, or those types you can see the girl with cloth or without when you move from left to right, etc.. If we have that, other drivers will pop their eyes as they move they see a Hummer jumps out of the sticker, or see the girl in the H2 sticker sort of change appearance. The possibilities are endless. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Jason,
$4 bucks, I am in for a logo sticker. I would much rather have the H2 Club logo on the spare tire carrier with the H2 Club web address below the pic. Anyone have an embroidery shop or something to that effect that could do this kind of work?
Check out the OkC Chapter Page!

Guys,
First off, I appreciate everyone's enthusiasm! You are all a great bunch of people, no matter what the outsiders say!?!?!?!?
Kevin, I contacted a local sign shop here and they offered to do the decals at about $2.00/ea. Not sure of their quality or exact material they planned on using.
However, I have been contacted by two members of the forum (one being "Big C") and would much rather let get the business - as they know what us H2 owners expect. So I am currently waiting on them ...
If I can voice my opinion on the decals: I think user names are better left off, obviously the "by elcova" will be left off, but I think the URL should be listed on the decal - so others know how to join in on the fun.
Something like this ok with everyone (obviously needs to be perfected):

I think that logo would look great, I would place it on my H2. I would suggest the sticker would be a cutout so you wouldn't have the black background that way it would look great on the back window or if someone wanted to place it on their vehicle the background would be the color of their H2.

I think what Jason was saying is that the stickers will be sold with a small profit to support the forum, not at the actual cost.
I'm in, I'll buy one, count me in. I'll not put it on my Hummer, I am not a sticker person, no sticker on my cars. I only have one see-thru round sticker on lower driver windshields, a country club sticker required for entry and parking. It will be an honor to support the forum.

The cutout version would definitely look good. I have several cutout "types" on the Escalade supporting my college. I am eagerly awaiting my H2 purchase so that I may attach "The H2 Source" sticker and show my support.

Hey there Jason,
I was only offering my help if nobody else wanted to do it. Its not my line of business so no feelings hurt here. I would just love to get it done because they are a great idea. My only thought other than the great idea for them to be a cutout style would be that the "H2" should be able to be in specific hummer colors. As others have said, price is not the issue, especially if it helps the site. If you need any help with anything let me know, my wife says that I am a good planner and organizer! Haha.

Just playing devil's advocate here guys, so don't flame me...
I think stickers are a great idea especially if it helps support this forum, by either bringing in new members or through donations made by existing members (just have to be careful not to end up rubbing GM/Hummer's legal department the wrong way though)
BUT...I seem to remember at least a couple of posts in the past where members who advertise on their H2 ended up getting hate mail from JQ Public about ruining the environment, supporting terrorists or some such nonsense. And it seems to me, as much as everyone hates trolls (and yes, I do too), that putting the URL on the stickers just might result in bringing in yet more trolls to this board. Not that I'm worried if that happens though...I know you guys can definitely hold your own if and when that happens!!!
...just letting you know to brace yourselves for a possible onslaught...you know the old saying "hope for the best, but plan for the worst"

I love the sticker idea. This will prevent me from chasing around other H2's to see if they are part of the forum. It will also introduce more people to this resource. Count me in. Then so be it. It is there trademark. Of course when it was all AM General they liked the fact that people promoted their product. They didn't have any need for advertising.

for those of you who mentioned D-Web stickers, the Land Rover name or any of its official model names is not part of the sticker. There are a few other companies that also use the oval concept in green without problems. One of the differences here is the use of H2 which is GM owned. Not an expert on the matter; just pointing out a difference in concepts.

Lets make the stckers dual purpose --- a clear sticker using white print for the Forum logo and site address, then use "rescue" or "EMT" colors (red, orange, blue, etc.) for larger print indicating something like "RESCUE VEHICLE" .... thus, we have something "for us" who live in "GREENIE" country .... I recently pulled a Jeep Wrangler out of a deep hole up in the Oakland Hills ... I guess I do have a rescue vehicle!
Best,
Michael
