I do not recommend the Manilk tail light guards. They are made all right but they mount with one screw and the other mounting points are all stick on (double sided tape) to the tail light itself. If you bump it very hard you are hitting the tail light, so much for a guard.

Thanks for the heads up, dissapointed!! I wanted those, they look great. I looked at other suvs with that on it like the tahoe, they have a 2 bolt system , my H3 I was not sure where it would have attached.

On the tail lights you will see two screws on the inside edge when you open the door. The guards ues the bottom screw on the right and left tail lights, then sticks on at three points with the double sided tape that comes with it. PISS POOR design I think.

That's worse than having no guard at all! Now you are going to place all the force of that branch or whatever to these monting points. DAMN IT! I was just about to order these. Thanks for the info guys. On my SUT they actuall se the factory screws inside the tailgate area and than you drill two moore holes just outside the taillight. VERY SECURE.

Can they e modified in any way. How about a couple of pics from the side view where they mount? Maybe we can fab something up.

OK, thanks for the pics.

So, I think that top bracket could be modified to go behind the tail lamp, but the other one, I'm not sure on what to do with. I'd have to get a pair of those to modify.... or just fab up a set. I'll pull the tail lamp this weekend and figure something out. I'll get back to you on this.

Ok, I couldn't wait. I just went out and pulled the bucket out. This will be easy! (famous last words). The challenge will be where the door swings out (dr sd). The brackets will be like the SUT ones. Anyone afraid to drill two tiny holes, push in a gromitt (SP) and screw them in place? The way my SUT ones go in! A little silicone and your done. Should take about 20 min to install. (estimate). I'll try to work on this over the next week or so.

Let me know how it comes out. I hate just looking at them sitting in the box.

The guards have to be a little taller/ wider than the ones you bouhgt. So unless you are willing to mount those to the tail lamps with 3M tape, I'd just send them back if you can.

Manik is now producing a new Tail Light Guard for the H3. The mount brackets, which used to mount on the outside of the lens with double sided 3M tape have been replaced with new ones. All the brackets now firmly attach to the vehicle using factory screws.

Manik will gladly replace the first generation Tail Light Guards for anyone who is not pleased with the design. Please contact Manik Customer Service at (800) 457-7645 for a replacement, or if you are interested in seeing the new design we will e-mail or fax you the installation instructions which show the new bracket design.

Please contact us to let us now how we can help you.

Thank you,
Manik

Apologies to anyone who has bought the Manik tail Light Guards. This is Manik the manufacturer. We have completely re-designed the mounting system,no more adhesive stuck to the lens.
Contact me and we will figure out how to get those nasty things back, and set you up with a replacement set.
Our stuff is always designed to be the best on the market,we want to keep it that way,and we stand by our product.
The only thing we ask is that you let everyone know how well the redesigned parts fit!
The only thing we hope is that the Chinese are already copying our original design rather than the new one !
Check outthe rest of our H2,and H3 product on line,or contact me for our new 40 page color catalog. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

So now that I scrapped my idea of "trying" to make a set, how do the new ones mount/ look? The otehr ones looked like they were thrown together and someone thought it would be a great idea to mount them to lense. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Do you have any new pics?

Please call our Customer Service line at (800) 457-7645 and we will send you the new installation instructions. It explains the new mounting method. The actual Tail Light Guards look like the original design except the brackets are different.

Thanks,
Manik
