x2...good advice, Dug...Ice is different from snow and mud -- its not about getting more surface area (airing down)...

Nothing beats studs or chains on ice. Going from NY to Colorado now I can tell you. I have a set of chains for everything, including my motorhome. With a 2 wheel drive rear wheel drive vehicle like a pickup or van you wont go 10 feet in colorado without chains.
