I need your help guys!
It's been raining like mad here, and the H2 SUT is leaking in the front ( I assume) It sounded like water sloshing back in forth through the passenger rocker panel, so I took off the step guards (on the inside of the cab seal, just below the kick panel) and it was full of water. I cleaned it all out, but I am sure it will come back unless I find the source. I NEED your help; anyone else found this on a wagon or sut let me know!!! |

SILICONE AND LOTS OF IT !!!!

lamp or sun roof?
|
Sunroof drains have been a problem but in your rocker panel is does sound more like the marker light(s). One screw removes the lens. Then inspect the rubber boot & see if it's seated properly. Then inspect the wire going through the rubber boot to be sure it's sealed. If anything looks suspicious, seal it with RTV silicone. DON'T USE CLEAR SILICONE. Use the black permatex adhesive/sealer.

thank you guys...it's pouring now...so I have been looking at everything.
Water seems to be pouring out of the frame work that was under the kick panel. I removed the A piller cover, and it was dry under it. I assume that large hose under that is the sunroof drain hose, or one of. The wires coming from there look to be dry...but when you remove your kick panel there are two slots with a round hole in the middle that hold the panel in place...water is coming from the hole in the middle. |
ok, under the marker light is a hole that the wire goes down. It is not wet under the light per say...but there is water in the hole...weird.
|
VTSTOMPER...the only drains that run through that pillar is the sunroof drain. If everything else is dry above the dashboard I would suspicion a leak in the drain below the dash. I'll research further & if I find something useful I'll post. Sorry guy.

Are you saying when you pull the rubber boot off that the marker light wire goes through there's water in the hole below it??? ![]() |
LV, yeah, I really was not deep into it on that earlier post...but see below:
I put RTV around the inside of the marker lamp gromet, and then stuck it back on...it was dry under it, so I do not think that is it. But, I will do the hose test after the RVT dries. What else can cause a leak up there other than the marker light? Only the sunroof? I also looked under the dash...looks dry..I am pissed I cannot find it. It IS coming out from the metal under the kick plate. |
oops

Well of course there's always the possibility of a windshield leak. Water can do strange things and many times it ends up in a place totally unrelated. From the roof down the only things I can think of is the clearance lights and the sunroof drains. There has been an ongoing problem with the sunroof drains kinking, even on the '05s. If that's it, for it to show up inside the kick panel it would almost have to be just below the A Pillar where the drain turns. The only other thing you might check is the rubber grommets between the body and the front of the doors. There's been reports of leaks at the door defroster & wiring grommets.

OK.
LV, thanks for all your help man! I will check those other locations tomorrow. My dealer is about 80 miles away...and I have not got the time to take time off right now for that. I feel like I can take care of this. Wonder if they would say the RTV will void my warranty. ![]() |
