Dual Antenna CB Radio
I remeber seeing a pic up here a while ago with someones rig that had dual antennas. I did a search but couldnt find the pix. Has anyone done this before?? I have two 4 ft antennas that i need mounted somewhere. Anyone have any advise on where to put them? I was thinking mounting them on the spare tire. Pictures would be great. Thanks

Re: Dual Antenna CB Radio
Check out a truck stop. You should be able to find antenna mounts in almost any of the larger ones like Flying J.

What and then steal them and install them on his 3? GotSandH3 Are you remembering an H2 or H3 with dual antennas. Several H2'ers have duals. Alec W and H2 Rocks, probablty several others too. Otherwise poke around these for mounting ideas (found them using search): http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=13474 http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=2010 http://elcova.com/groupee/forums/a/t...1/m/6391091241 http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=2940 If you don't see something that works, cook something up |
Re: Dual Antenna CB Radio

Re: Dual Antenna CB Radio
So when I hand you the link, you don't even use it? See this link above:
http://elcova.com/groupee/forums/a/t...1/m/6391091241 I found it by, get this, reading, this thread that I found using Search, and then following the link. It shows how he mounted one of them. Looks like there's room on the other side of his bracket for both. |

I think they might sell them in the truck accessories. |
Re: Dual Antenna CB Radio
Some good reading on dual antennas. I don't know how TGL has his connected, but just slapping an extra antenna up there won't necessarily improve signal.

x2, plus if you really want to use 2 antenna's to improve reception (instead of just looking really good), have a professional tune it unless you've done it before. I had a 5' firestik on my Jeep and could never tune it right, had a CB-expert buddy of mine tune it for me and it was way better. I think it's harder to tune a twin-stick setup. |
Re: Dual Antenna CB Radio
I like this idea and look much better than my original idea of mounting it on the roof. I have both a CB and a scanner. If I had two antennas side by side, would there be a problem with interference? The scanner is also a digital, trunking scanner so I can escape with ease!! :giggling:

Re: Dual Antenna CB Radio
I take it this is a dead thread as no one has bothered to reply to my questions!
Does anyone have information on how to mount either a single or dual antenna setup on the rear spare tire mount? |

Look up about 5 posts and follow the links. |
Re: Dual Antenna CB Radio
Found the "hidden" link! I saw this, but was wondering if the metal band would be strong enough to hold the mount.

Re: Dual Antenna CB Radio
I have dual antenna's mounted using the metal strip mounted on the spare tire bracket. It looks great although the CB reception is bad.
I had them for abut 2 1/2 years now (bought my H3 when it just came out) and the construction is trong enough. I bought the antenna's at Love's truck stop. |
