Yup, you read it here first! Well, I read it this evening. Popular Mechanics was testing the Plymouth Horizon. It enabled them to "embarrass other so called sports cars" with an extremely nimble 0-60 time of 10.9 seconds. They said it's great fun to blow off these pretenders o freeway on-ramps. They said that the pretenders never quite believed that they were being out-accelerated by a Plymouth Horizon.
Ok, ok, it's a 1982 issue of Popular Mechanics. Still, it just proves that the H3's 0-60 time isn't "dangerous" and it's not a slow slug. What it does prove is that people have become jaded and want a 6 second 0-60 time out of a trail going machine. My my, how times have changed. It sure is a blast to read about how fast we used to go, and how slow we are now! |

Yea I'm old enough to remember the good ole days and when 0-60 in the
10 second range was considered decent. But today is 2005 and 0-60 in 10 seconds is mediocre at best. But a Hummer is not designed to maximize 0-60 times. All the Hummers (including the H2)are slow in this regard on the road. I really feel the difference when I get in my Boxster S (0-60 in mid 5 second range) or my wife's Jag X-type 3.0(0-60 in mid 7 second range). Something about the H3 that I still enjoy driving everyday. Different toys for different purposes for sure. Steve |
