I've had my truck for only 2 weeks and managed to lose a key. I'm hoping it will show up. In the event it doesn't, does anyone know roughly what the replacement cost is?
Thanks.
Chris

the chevy spares are about $4 cheaper then the HUMMER and Caddy spares....all the same though
the only keys that are very expensive are those with the k-key such as the chevy impala...that key actually has an embedded chip

After Church hooks you up, make sure you call and let them know that you got everything from another dealer for whatever amount and thanks for all their help

that's a big relief. I thought was in for $350 plus. Funny thing is I just got a UPS shipment today with a new Hummer H3 keychain. What a bummer.
I'm going to call my dealer today.

Sewell in Plano gave me 2 extra keys upon my request at time of delivery, no charge. The process to program a remote to the vehicle is in the owners manuel.

Like that made sense.
I bought two spare keys when I bought my H3(at ORR), they cost 10$ for two. Not made from factory blanks ( they do not have H3 on them) other than that they work fine.

just have one made up dude cost what maybe $3.00.These are not electronic keys that cost like $40.[/quote]
The dealer lost one of the remotes and key for our H3 and had to order a replacement; said it cost them $350. The pre-cut (from the VIN) replacement key wouldn't turn in the door lock, so I demanded a blank that I could have cut by a locksmith. Our saleman said just the blank cost $70. Don't know if I believe him on that one.
Hopefully they won't charge you to program your replacement, but they might.

In response to earlier posts, not that anyone asked me:
1) There are no transponder chips in these keys, however there is an electromagnet anti theft device in the ignition cylinder.
2) The vehicle should come from the dealership with two keys, two remotes and a key code tag.
If you got less then go back to the dealer and get it taken care of. Put the key code tag in your owner's manual or in a safe, jewelry box, etc. It can save you a lot of cash if you loose your keys.
3) Lots of GM vehicles retain the key in the ignition if the battery goes dead. I don't get it. Is it a bug or a feature? Get power to the battery and your key will release.
4) If you MUST have the H3 logo on your key expect a duplicate to cost in the 5 to 10 dollar range. On the other hand, if you don't mind your duplicate key having a Chevy logo on it you can get one from a locksmith in the range from about 3 to 7 dollars.
5) The remotes are a basic Delphi model, there are lots of places that you should be able to find them on line for under a hundred bucks. I don't know for sure but I would venture to guess that they come with on board programing instructions that you can do yourself.

Okay. Good news, bad news.
Good news, I located my key.
Bad news, my wife (who I have been blaming for the last 48 hours) suggested I check a jacket that I had hanging outside as a result of the flood. Well, sure enough it was in the pocket. I'm siked.
Thanks again to 4Churchill for his offer. Very solid.

Wow...that's a lot. I've been going crazy looking for it. We've had quite a bit of rain here in the Northeast and my basement flooded on Friday. In all the chaos, I misplaced/lost my key with the remote. I have one, but I can't just go along with one. I'm going to tear the house apart looking for it. Fingers crossed.
