The were of the plastic on the key, could be done by how many keys that you have hanging on your key ring.
I have seen a lot of wear on plastic heads of keys, due to a person having a lot of keys on there key ring.
Being a locksmith I would say you have around 5 keys on your key ring.

Yep, same problem here. I carry a bunch of keys on a single ring and my H2 key is all chewed up.

I have the same problem, and I do carry a whole bunch of other keys, but I never had that problem before with keys to the other cars. This is the first time.

My '03 keys look pristine. I carry no other keys on the same ring.

I have one the hummer ket and the remote on one ring. That way I get NO shake and rattle with the keys in the hummer, or in my pocket. I have another key chain that has all the keys on it.

hmmmmm...you guys may be correct, but I've never had a car key get so chewed up before. I was pondering a way to integrate the key fob and the key (much like a VW key fob or Mercedes).

Yeah I have the same problem.
Thought about buying a new one but I'll wait maybe some one will make a cool looking key cover?

I've broken the plastic "hoop" on my ignition key. It still stays on fairly well but will ocasionally fall off my key ring.
I could care less if my key's chewed up.

Oh please God... do not let the jeep guys see us discussing this. Please inspire them to talk about UCP damage, or rock rail damage, or body damage... just no more talks of plastic key cover damage...
UCP damage discussion = Manly talk
Key Plastic damage discussion = ...

NOPE! I've changed.
I had my keys done in spray-on bedliner... it holds up better when I'm crawling speed bumps at the mall....

That's actually a good idea.
Makes me wonder if anyone's every replaced their paint job with a Rhino Coat. Probably wouldn't have to worry about magnetic off body shields.

Waxing would be a pain in the rear!

Don't worry I've logged at least 300 miles of off road time in my H2, and I only have 3000 miles on it.
Guess I'm just pissed when people see my keys all frayed for no reason other than GM's cheap ass number crunchers.
