See link below for original article, WITH PHOTOS:

"Less than a year after the H3 went on sale, HUMMER is unveiling a new model called the H3x. It is based on the H3 Street concept shown at the automotive industry's annual Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in November.

The 2007 H3x, designed to appeal to buyers with an interest in a customized appearance, injects new energy into the HUMMER lineup, while delivering the brand's trademark iconic bold design and unmatched off-road prowess.

"The H3x enables buyers to enjoy the appearance of a personalized, accessorized truck available directly from the factory," said Susan Docherty, HUMMER general manager. "It's intended for those who want to make a personal style statement and differentiate themselves from other H3 owners."

The H3x begins with an H3 equipped with the Luxury package, chrome tube steps, chrome appearance package and chrome fuel door. The package also includes a body-color grille and spare tire cover, unique tires, wheels and center cap, and a brush guard. The interior features embroidered headrests.

Consumers can further personalize their H3x with any of the H3's eight exterior colors and three leather interiors. The model is scheduled to arrive in dealerships in late summer of 2006. It will be available only in the United States and Canada."

Pretty, in a "to the mall" kind of way
But hey if it helps keep the model alive, I'm for it.

Tire cover = SUCK!
The rims look strange with the center cap.

that's cool that the color matched grills are on the way.

Don't like the tire cover at all. Too "Mercedes-ish" for me.

Accessories in packages and colors, this is what you get to look forward to wile GM decides on how to spend money with the Hummer brand. The H2 is already almost 4 years old so H3 will just get more choices for the next 2 years.

The life cycle of most vehicles is 5-7 years without any major changes. I believe, that with the H3, GM sees other avenues to explore, and they are doing it and the costs for these additional items is not that expensive.
Painting a grill or chroming a brush guard does not require extensive crash testing to validate.
The expensive items that everyone seems to be waiting for will come in 2008. If a new engine is designed into the vehicle, extensive tests must be performed, as well as crash tests (and these aren't inexpensive), as well as fuel economy and emissions testing.
I would never purchase one of these street machines, but there appears to be a market, and I believe that GM is smart in jumping on the bandwagon to provide these updates to the consumer.
As a GM employee, I like them because all profits help to save the company; as a consumer, I believe it is smart for any company to provide what the consumer wants.

Yea, kind of another form of "badge engineering", and not nearly as lame as some of GM's other work at Pontiac, Buick, Saab.
